"Dr. Anez was very nice. He explained the procedure in detail and answered all of my questions. I felt VERY confident in his abilities. He also seemed to have a sense of humor--I must have been the first patient to ask if he would take pictures of my "insides" during surgery (the answer was "no" but at least I asked!) The next time I saw him was on the date of my surgery. He made me feel very comfortable. He visited me once after the surgery and encouraged me to do well in my weight loss endeavors. I haven't seen him since then.
Dr. Anez's office staff is SUPERB!! I bugged them a lot because I had problems with my insurance approval. They worked with me and gave me advice and encouragement.
Future patients should know that Dr. Anez comes across as businesslike, but he really does care about his patients.
After-care is STRESSED by everyone in the office. There is a structured after-care program. I have not participated in much of it because I live about 120 miles from his office. I enjoy talking to the patients in the waiting room at his office--everyone is eager to share their stories!
Dr. Anez went over all the potential risks for the surgery. He had a handout that he went over with you. You had to take it home and study it and come back with any questions. All the risks were very well defined and explained in laymans terms.
Dr. Anez is an excellent physician. I would rate him highly on both surgical competence and bedside manner. If I remember correctly, Dr. Anez perfected the RNY procedure so the incision is only about 3 inches long!! Not bad."
"Tastes like cough medicine. I don't like any of the protein powders or drinks so this is the only way I can get extra protein. I find it much easier to take 2 tablespoons 3 times a day than to try to choke down two 8 ounce protein shakes (which I could never manage to do anyway). So, I get my protein in quickly and fairly easily."
"Tastes really good. I take it after my chewable multi-vitamin because I don't care for the taste of the multi-vitamin and the chewable iron gets rid of that taste!!"
"The staff was wonderful. The nurses on my floor were so nice and encouraging. The "food" I got to eat was great. I never liked Jello much, but I ate the Jello here. And the protein rich broth they had was WONDERFUL! Wish I could get the recipe."
