Shelby Baptist Medical Center

"I stayed on the Women's surgical floor. The nurses were the nicest and most compassionate nurses you could ask for. The room was a little small, but hey, I was resting and could have cared less. The nurses made sure that I did everything I was told to do pre-op. My pain meds were ALWAYS given on time. The one time that I went 10 hours without any was because I was stubborn and was scared the Lortab liquid would make me sick. I finally listened to my nurse Melissa and took it. WOW, it was wonderful and never made me nauseated. When it was time for discharge, I was out of there within 20 minutes of the Dr telling me I could go home. They gave me about 15 60cc cups to bring home, so I wouldn't overeat or drink. After this experience, why anyone want to travel into B'ham for care! Way to go nurses, and staff of Shelby!!"

Richard Stahl

"I had to wait 2 months just to see him for a consult. This really didn't bother me, since I am so ANAL about getting my paperwork in order. That 2 months was helpful, because by the time I got all of my medical records together it was almost exactly 2 months! Since I have been a RN for 20 years, it doesn't bother me if a doctor isn't all mushy and smiling when he is talking with you. I would rather have the facts and a great reputable surgeon. I had heard great things about Dr. Stahl and his staff. He was professional and although I was well informed, he did answer every question I had without feeling like I was rushed. I spent almost 2 hours talking with him and his PA. I hope post-op care will be as good!"
