Patricia Choban

"My first impression of Dr. Choban was neutral. I had driven 2.5 hours to get to my consultation. It had been scheduled for 8:00. I didn't get in until 11:30. So, I was not a happy camper. However, she seemed very competent, experienced, and open. Impression changed: She is a good surgeon, and has good taste in books. Have never dealt with her office staff. Staff at BTC clinic were fine. Liked least: Waiting 2.5 hours past my appointment. You won't see much of her while at hospital. She is matter of fact; but sincere in her care. Aftercare pretty much is routine thing for Bariatric Treatment Center. They have it down to a science - and just put you through the channels or stages. Addressed the surgical risks: 1 in 100 chance of death while in surgery. About 23% chance of post op hernia. Higher than normal chance of gallstones post op. Very candid discussion. (Also followed a format on a flip chart that I think is probably used over and over for BTC patients - but if you listen, they have done it so often, they don't really miss much and answer your questions). Scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate her an 8. Very pleasant woman, I appreciated her direct answers. A point off perfect for the very lateness- both at my consult and day of surgery (I was told to be there at 7:30 for 8:00 surgery; went to pre op at 9:00). Another point off a perfect 10, because I thought in a Private Hospital I would see more of her. Granted, I was on such strong meds the first couple of days, she may have seen more of me than I of her. I still give her an 8. Surgical Competence. Office manner is good. Only remember seeing her once at bedside. I would recommend her to anyone. Looking at the big picture, her experience is SO important. "
