"I sent Dr. McConnell an e-mail to ask a few questions about the DS. He personally called me and answered my questions. He instructed his scheduler to get me in ASAP and I have an appointment for March 1.
He surprised me when he attended my first support group meeting at OHSU in Portland. He was the only doctor there and answered all the questions very well. He is an extremely intelligent, caring, and soft spoken man, who was very impressive to me.
I have several concerns about the surgery (actually ANY surgery) but after meeting Dr. McConnell, the surgeon is no longer one of those concerns.
I had my consultation and it went fine. I have read so much about the surgeries, I knew the basics. What I didn't know is the specific actions Dr. McConnell uses to complete the surgery. It was fascinating.
I really like Dr. McConnell. He really seems like the perfect surgeon for me.
Now I wait to be switched on May 29, 2002."
