"Very straight forward (pulls no punches), answered all my questions, was careful to be sure my husband understood what would happen. He seems to have a great deal of empathy for people who struggle with obesity. I had done a great deal of research and preparation before my appointment so he didn't tell me much that I hadn't already learned but he was pleased with my advance preparation and my husband was definitely better educated after the appointment. I also liked the fact that he doesn't leave anything to chance. He checks and re-checks everything before he completes the surgery and Dr. Espinal works with him so I feel very reassured having two well-qualified surgeons for the procedure. He was very clear that only those who follow the "rules" afterward will be totally successful. In other words, I am directly responsible for my success following the surgery and I intend to follow his instructions to the letter. He does have a structured after-care program and recommends belonging to a support group. He was very clear about the risks of surgery and explained what he does to mitigate the risks during surgery. I would rate him as excellent and his staff has been extremely helpful. If I had to choose between surgical competence and bedside manner, surgical competence would win hands-down. Fortunately, Dr. Borhanian has a very good record and so far, seems to be very easy to work with and very concerned for his patient's well being. "
