St. Agnes Hospital

"I enjoyed my stay in St. Agnes. The nurses and staff were really sweet and attentive to me while I was there."

"My first impression of Dr. Singh was that he truly cared. I originally went with my mother to her consultation with Dr. Singh (I was scheduled to have surgery performed by another surgeon). He spoke so softly and caringly to my mom that it truly touched my heart. Then he spoke to me and it was at that moment I knew that I had to have him do my surgery. My impression of Dr. Singh hasn't changed. He is just as concerned and cares just as much now that I'm post op as he did before my operation. I do have mixed opinions of Dr. Singh's office staff. Kathy, Dr. Singh's surgical nurse coordinator, is truly AWESOME! She truly understands what we go through (she's been there) and I don't know how she finds the time to do everything she does. She worked for me to make things happen quickly. If it wasn't for her and her care and thoughtfulness, I'd still be trying to get the other office staff to listen to me and understand what I'm trying to say. Arlene, the nutritionalist is also AWESOME! She met with me before my operation and again last week for my 2 week follow-up. She also understands the changes we go through. She is there 24/7 for anything I could need. As for Dr. Singh's other office staff, I had to fight with them to understand that I didn't need to re-submit my paperwork to get re-approved. I needed them to understand that I had already spoken to my insurance company and they did the authorization over the phone immediately. No matter what I said to them, they were insistant that things be done their way - which without Kathy's help, would have only confused my insurance company and could have possibly resulted in my being denied. THANK YOU KATHY! There is nothing about Dr. Singh or his partner Dr. Averbach that I dislike. Both checked in on me while I was in the hospital and even escorted me, the morning after my surgery, to the X-Ray room for my Swallow Test. I would recommend to future patients that they concentrate on Dr. Singh's kind and caring way and not on his office staff that can be less than nice at times. Dr. Singh does recommend that you attend his support group meetings. I've attended several (none since my operation on 1/31/03) but know that they are informative and uplifting. Dr. Singh discussed the risks of surgery and he didn't sugar coat anything. He treats each patient as an individual and addresses specific health concerns as such. I'm so glad that Dr. Singh and Dr. Averbach have impecable surgical competence and caring bedside manner. Both are important to me, I feel uplifted and safe whenever I see them."
