Happy TWO Year Anniversary to You! I hope that this post finds you healthy and happy. Please remember to drop by and update your profile from time to time. It's important for others to be able to see how we post-ops do on our journeys. You never know who you might inspire. Have a great day.

Good Evening Everyone! Well ... I made it through laparoscopic gall bladder removal. I wasn't thrilled about having surgery again ... but the attacks were getting more frequent with potential complications down the road (if you wait too long ... they have to open you up to remove the gall bladder -- yuk). My surgeon was wonderful ... a female! She was so compassionate and actually sat with me in the operating room while they were prepping me. My PCP told me that she would let this surgeon cut off her head ... now I know why! And ... get ready for this ... my surgery was scheduled for 9:30 and they wheeled me in about an hour early! Miracles never cease! Anyway ... I was up walking by 1:30 and out the door by 2:00! I'm a bit sore ... I don't think it compares with my Lap RNY ... but I can say it felt like I did about 1000 sit-ups! My word of advice to all you pre-ops ... get your doctor to do an ultrasound of your gall bladder prior to surgery ... and yank that baby out if it even looks like there is one stone or a sludgy buildup!!! I tried to persuade them to remove my appendix ... obviously I didn't prevail! Can't blame me for trying, right? On the road to recovery ... once again ... Jennifer

Good evening AMOS friends! A year ago today ... I was taking laps around the nurses station after my Lap RNY. Today ... I am 107 pounds lighter ... and much healthier! I figure I have about 25 more pounds to go until I hit my goal (BMI of 24). I wear a size 12/14 ... and never thought in my wildest dreams I would see clothing that size (it's been a good 25 years since I wore a 14). Yes ... my hair fell out between four and six months ... but it did stop. I tried everything on the market, to no avail. My suggestion ... just don't stress about it. It WILL stop! Like many WLS patients, my doctor prescribed Actigal to help prevent the formation of gallstones. Lucky me ... I was allergic. So ... next Monday ... October 1 ... the gallbladder comes out! From what I understand, I'll be in the hospital about four hours ... then home to recuperate! Although I'm not thrilled about more surgery ... I'll be happy to bid this organ adieu! I don't think many things rival a gallbladder attack! As for plateaus ... I hit one at about eight months. It lasted until I kicked myself in the butt. My solution? Head back to Weight Watchers! It was a great answer for me ... I like being accountable to someone or something (their scale)! It's a great ego booster ... going every week and losing weight! Let me tell you, prior to surgery I never was a "constant loser!" I do the program a little differently than the rest of the members ... but I do manage to eat the points in my range! Bottom line ... would I have Lap RNY again? Most definitely ... in a heartbeat!!! The setbacks have been minor and relatively short-lived! I've never had a dumping episode, eat pretty much what strikes my fancy and haven't vomited once. I am, however, lactose intolerant. Cheese and yogurt don't cause me a problem ... but milk turns me every which way but loose! No problem ... soy milk does the trick for me! Where there's a will ... there's a way! Good luck to all the pre- and post-ops on your journey to a healthier you! Jennifer

I just got an email from Jennifer. She's doing great! She was released from the hospital on Tuesday...after surgery on Monday morning! Way to go Jennifer! Remember how difficult it can be adjusting to life post-op, so let's keep showing Jennifer just how much we're behind her by posting to her surgery page!

I just got off the phone with Jennifer...she made it!!! Wooohooo! She sounded a little groggy, as is expected! But, she's already been up and walking...way to go, Jennifer! She was able to get a little bit of broth, grape juice an a tiny bit of jello in for dinner. She's doing great! I'll touch base again tomorrow. Please keep the prayers and well-wishes coming!
