Brian Boe

"Dr Boe made a lasting impression on me the first time I met him. My daughter and I went to the consult together - we both were investigating bariatric surgery. Dr Boe spent over an hour and a half with us, answering every question imaginable, and never once did he make us feel unimportant or that he would rather be somewhere else. His nursing/support staff is awesome. I had major difficulties with some hygiene issues after surgery and his staff was tremendous. They never made me feel belittled, even though I was in an embarrassing situation. One nurse even took the time to rub lotion on my back and feet because they were so dry, and I know they were very busy. May Hoffman is the patient support person in Dr Boe's office. She is a phenomenal person. My daughter had surgery 2 weeks before I did. We were waiting for the surgical nurse to come and get her when I had to step out of the room for a moment. Of course, that is when they came and she was gone before I got back. I didn't get to say good luck or give her a kiss. May made one phone call and managed to get me into the preop room where they were hooking her up to IV's and prepping her for surgery. I got to get in my final kiss and calm her down a bit. How awesome is that????? I was having trouble getting in touch with the person who schedules the surgeries. After leaving messages for 2 weeks, I contacted May and she sat down at her computer and the next thing I know, I had a date for 2 weeks later. She also managed to make arrangements for me to have my preop testing the same day I took my daughter home, so I wouldn't have to make the 2 hour trip again in a few days. Dr Boe's clerical staff does need a little work. They are not very expedient in filling out or forwarding insurance paperwork after surgery (short-term disability paperwork). They lost my daughter's forms the first time, which resulted in the delay of her benefits. It took them over 2 weeks to send some of my paperwork back to my employer. You just have to have an active hand in the paperwork end and keep reminding them. Dr Boe has a very structured aftercare program. You meet with a dietician before you leave the hospital and you have scheduled follow-up appointments. Every so often, they will even call you at home to see how you are doing. Dr Boe has an excellent bedside manner. When I had my surgery, my daughter couldn't be there with me, because she was newly post-op and couldn't make the trip. Dr Boe, himself, called her after my surgery to let her know that everything had gone well. I don't know of too many surgeons that would've made that call themselves. I also had a lot of pain issues after surgery and he made it a point to check in on me frequently and made every effort to eliminate the pain. He does not like to see his patients in pain at all. He also is the only doctor at the BTC who will allow his patients to have ice chips almost immediately after surgery, which is a godsend, believe-you-me. I have such confidence in Dr Boe that I have referred him to friends of mine. I even went with one of my friends to his consult, and Dr Boe was just as excellent with him and he was with my daughter and I. My friend was debating between a couple of different facilities, but after meeting Dr Boe and May and the rest of the staff, has decided to go with the BTC for his surgery."
