Hey y'all! I'm just over two weeks postop now and down 17 pounds! I'm feeling good... still sore. Dr. Ross will take out my remaining staples tomorrow. YAY! I'm on a soft diet now and doing fine. No complications at this point and I pray none arise! Thanks for all the support and prayers! God is good! Laura

Hey, I'm alive! Surgery was Monday and I'm sitting in a chair in my hospital room, posting to you. I'm feeling great! No problems whatsoever. There, the power of prayer! PCP is gone, catheter gone, oxygen gone. I'm still on IC and getting antibiotics and Protonix to fight nausea... I'm doing ice chips, flavored water, sugar free jello, and chicken broth and of course some Crystal Lite. I'm blowing 2750 on the incentive spirometry (was doing only 2500 preop)! I really feel great~ No hunger at all. coughing is painful but not too bad. I had a little medicine cup of Lortab elixir for pain after my marathon walk this morning... Walked over 500 feet in one trip... just came back from a 280 foot walk after lunch. Life is so sweet, folks. I'm praying for all of y'all~ -- Laura W.

Hello again everyone... This is Jim again. Just wanted to let everyone know that Laura just took her first walk down the hallway. She walked about 30 feet down and back. Jim/Laura

Hello everyone. This is Laura's husband, and I am sitting here in her room. She is doing fine, and is a little nauseated and the room tempature currently is 76 degree's. Added to the room temo, she has SCD's on, so she is felling REALLY hot, but the good thing is that it is not from a fever. Other than that, she is doing really well. She is going down tomorrow morning for her "leak test" and has yet to situp or stand, and that comes tomorrow also. Laura's room number is 571 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. The direct number for the room is 864-560-2571. Thanks for your continued prays and good wishes! Jim and Laura....

Hey, y'all! Can you tell that I'm starting to get nervous? Here we are in the wee hours Sunday morning... I had my last meals on Saturday. The final solid food was cheesecake. <smile> I went to Red Lobster with my best friend and my oldest sister who also hopes to have her surgery soon, no insurance approval for her yet. I ate and ate and had a drink, a Long Island iced tea. Had never had one and wanted to try it ... I enjoyed my meal but really enjoyed the company more. I've been real weepy for the last day or two. Getting really emotional. Not sure what that is about, just nerves, I suspect. And, now, it is bedtime...and I don't wanna go. It feels like the time is slipping through my fingers. Sounds like I need to take a deep breath and exhale slowly, huh? <smile> I'll be ok. Today, a friend sent me an email, a link to a cute page with an "essay" of sorts to make me smile. And it worked. Through all the stress and fears and nerves, I was actually smiling and content. I think I'll reread that essay and take a few deep breaths and go to bed. All that stands between me and my surgery now is Sunday. While I'm away from the message board, may the Lord remind you of how much YOU mean to Him. Here's the link to the essay.... enjoy and smile... http://members.accessus.net/~tmcdonld/lighthse/foot134.htm - laura w. goodnight and sweet dreams

Laura W. - Thank you for the kind message that you sent me. We are both embarking on one of the most important trips of our journey - surgery! I know you feel as I do, excited, but nervous. I know that God will be with us and take care of us. My prayers are for us and all others that are having surgery on Monday to have routine, uneventful surgeries and smooth, fast recoveries! May God Bless!
