Hurley Medical Center

"The whole experience was good. However, most of the nursing staff didn't seem to know much at all about this type of surgery and what kind of care was needed. I would say that out of about 10 nurses that I had during my 4 day stay, only about 3-4 of them knew what they were doing. I even had a nurse that had to give me a suppository and had trouble ( and I mean TROUBLE) finding my rectum. This was quite the experience."

"My first impression was he that he was very friendly and professional. He explained everything to me in a language anyone could understand. So far I have only seen him at my initial consultation. His office staff was very helpful and friendly And aftercare is very important to him. But being that I live so far away, I hope something can be worked out as far as the # of return trips. He got straight to the point about the risks of surgery. We had a group discussion and he explained in great detail the proceedure and the possible side effects, including possible death from bleeding, etc. Well since I am still pre-op, I can't really rate him overall. But so far so good! I havn't seen or read anthing negative about him and being from Flint originally, I have heard only good things through the grapevine. I really believe that surgical competence is more important so that care is taken to make sure nothing goes wrong. However, a good bedside manner is also needed so that the least amount of stress is added to the recovery process. Besides, lets face it, we all want to be able to get along with and like our Dr's."
