Henry L. Laws

"Nov. 15, 2001: First impression good. His office staff was very helpful. Can't put my finger on anything that I disliked in this initial visit. He is very clear about what he expects you to do, and if you don't think your committed to doing it, then this surgery is not for you. He expects his patients to come back after surgery and if you don't feel you can do this, you don't need this surgery. He did not mix words about the risks, some people have died, this is not common but with any major surgery can happen. Overall I think he seem like he really cares about the morbidly obese patient. In my opinion, surgical competence and bedside manner go hand in hand. January 22, 2002: I just received notification on January 15 that my information had been sent to the insurance company on January 14, 2002. It was almost two months to the day. I can't believe how long this is taking. February 1, 2002: I had my pre-surgery appointment on January 30, 2002. Dr. Laws reviewed my chart checked my tummy area and told me he felt I was doing the right thing. He told me again that he would be doing a Lap, but that I could wake up to an Open if he has to go that way in the OR. If I am up walking and going to the bathroom on my own, I will be able to go home the next day. December 12, 2002: I had my last appointment with Dr. Laws. He is retiring so I can't refer anyone to him any longer, but he was a great surgeon. "
