almost 3 weeks!

Apr 21, 2013

wow i am almost 3 weeks out, can't believe it, its gone so quick! im down 17lbs  i am so happy!! i am getting ready to try purees but im a little worried about it, if i drink/eat too much of my shake i get a feeling in my upper esophagus which isn't nice, i have to wait to burp it up then im ok, also sorry if TMI i can't poop!!! and when i have its liquid, so all those fellow sleevers im sure you understand the predicament of passing gas!! just booked a mini cruise to the bahamas and im hoping to be 15lbs down by then (another 5 weeks away)

im also using my fitness pal which has been great as i can track my protein and water consumption.

start exercise tomorrow, back to the gym.. i hope i have enough energy!!

10 days post op

Apr 14, 2013

10 days down, i feel great, not weak or tired in fact the opposite, I'm 13lbs down! im just getting slightly fed up with clear liquids.. so tonight i have tried a scoop of unjury strawberry protein powder in a cup of milk... oh my god heaven! like drinking a smoothy. i really enjoyed it but didnt manage the whole thing. im now finding that if i have something approx 1-2 hours later i do feel hungry, i am taking ppi so im putting this down to my tiny new tummy emptying and the needing something else usually fluid. can anyone tell me once i start on the mushy diet do we feel satied for longer periods?

6 days post op!!!

Apr 09, 2013

so im 6 days post op, i feel really good, first 2 days were bad.. lots of pain and vomiting (had anti-inflammatory meds IV) huge help!!now i feel full of energy, and have lost 8lbs!!! surgery was in mexico (so if anyone needs reassurance over the care ther please message me!) the bags of energy i have is truly amazing im putting this down to my body being free of carbs and sugar.. nasty things!

im managing to get around 55-60 oz of clear fluids in a day, water, apple juice (my best friend!) broth and popsicles. also my tablets. one thing im noticing is in the morning i wake with pain under my breast bone also if i drink too quickly (which is easy to do as i keep forgetting!) it goes once i manage to burp. has anyone else experienced this and does it go away?

im on clear fluids for the next week then on to protein shakes etc.

i would just like to say if you are about to embark on this very brave journey i can honestly say it is not as bad as you think! i had visions of vomiting daily pain etc.. but i have had none of this im happy so far that i have made this desicion as i know i have a very healthy future ahead of me!

4 days to go!

Mar 31, 2013

so I am 4 days away from my new life!! i am so excited but really nervous too, i keep having nightmares that I don't wake up from the surgery, I have purposely arranged to be busy for the next 3 days so I don't think about it too much, my surgeon advised 3 day liquid only diet for me, that starts tomorrow I know a lot of people have a special diet to do for 2-3 weeks pre-op so I'm not going to moan about 3 days! I will put some pre-op pics on the day before surgery. thank you to everyone on this site, this has given me the strength to not listen to the "nightmares" and to be at peace knowing this is the right move for me, years of yo yo dieting will hopefully be a thing of the past!!

4 weeks and 2 days!

Mar 03, 2013

surgery is booked for the 4th april, Im still in that excitement stage and literally counting the days down! im sure the closer i get the more anxious i will become! my worries are around the post op recovery not the surgery itself, I am reading alot about ensuring you get enough protein in. Im wondering which protein shakes & soups you have all found the best i'd like to try some before hand and see which ones i like.. i hear unjury are good? i would just like some advice on how often i should be drinking/eating in the first 2 weeks? i know its liquids only also worried about dehydration if not able to manage all the shakes and the water?

all advice welcome!

thanks rachel.
