I am going through the long processes of getting approved for wls. I have a couple more appointments before I am to see the surgeon.
I really really want to have this done. I have been overweight for about 16 years. Have tried many many diets, that always fail. My husband had wls, will be 5 years in May, of this year. He is doing great. I want to be able to move easier and to be able to do more things with my family.

I am going to start a journal. Keeping track of everything I have gone through from the beginning of my journey.
August 5, 2005-Talk to pcp about weight loss surgery. He said he would have his nurse set up an appointment for a consult for me. She would call me with the date.
August 15, 2005- Got date for first consult...October 26, 2005. Am really excited now.
October 26, 2005- First consult with wls clinic. Went well. Very informative. Got orders for blood work and sleep study.
November 30, 2005- Met with dietitian today. Basically went over how to eat and what not to eat. Next appointment December 20, 2005.
December 20, 2005-Met with clinic nurse and dietitian today. Set goals for next couple months. I am really starting to get excited. Next appointment in January
January 1, 2006- Quit smoking today. To improve health before surgery. Is gonna be very stessful. But worth it. I would rather be thin than smoke. :)
January 9, 2006-Had 3rd consult today. And also attended first education class. Received the Barbara Thompson book "Weight Loss Surgery. Finding the Thin Person Hiding Inside You." Very interesting ready. Go back in February for Bariatric Medical Evaluation.
February 2-Medical Evaluation was today. Went very good. Have to get some of those pounds off before March, then they will set up appointment with surgeon.

May 26, 2006- Today was last appointment with nutrionist. She is sending letter to insurance for approval. Also setting up appointment with Dr.
June 3, 2006- Got approval letter from insurance. I can't believe how fast it happened. I was expecting to have to wait and wait and probably have to appeal. This is a very exciting day.
June 6, 2006- I met with Dr. Benotti today. Everything went well. I am scheduled for some test on August 4, 2006 and my surgery is August 24, 2006. I am really excited.
