It has been awhile

Jul 12, 2011

I haven't been on this site for some time, things are going fantastic and I feel better than I have in such a very long time.  I am down from a size 22 to a size 7/8 .  I started working out with a personal trainer two times a week and I love these workouts more than anything.  I feel great and thank god every single day for this chance to make life a lot happier and healthier for me.

One month after surgery

Nov 22, 2010

Well I have never blogged before so we shall see how this goes.

I started considering surgery this summer in about July so I went to a seminar an then I researched and read several different articles, read lots of forums, went to support groups and talked to people who had surgery.  In September I decided the RNY was the best fit for me, I was approved and the surgery was done on October 25.

I have had no significant problems since my surgery date, I started walking on my treadmill again 2 days after I got out of the hospital and I am now up to walking 4.5 miles per day.    I have experienced  two occasions where I ended up getting sick after eating a meal and the reason for that was definitely eating too fast, this is something that I really need to concentrate and focus on when I am eating.  I find it difficult to get the protein that I am required to get in and at this point it is 75 grams a day,  I  am able to get about 50/day.  I am getting about 400 calories per day and not sure if that is good or not.  My information from the nutritionist says between 600-800 calories.  I am just keeping track of it all and at the end of the month I have my appointment with the nutritionist next Tuesday and I figure they will tell me where I can make some changes.  Getting the whole eating thing down is my biggest obstacle, I wonder if I eat too much am I going to stretch my stomach and how much is too much.  On the other hand not eating enough will cause malnutrition so how much is not enough, hopefully these questions will be answered next week.

So here we are a month later and I am down 29 lbs and feeling great, only 2 more pounds to go and I will be below 200 lbs for the first time in 10 years.

I'm excited about the future!!
