4 months already?!?!?

Apr 12, 2011

I thought I would go back and track how much weight I had lost each month since my surgery and post it on here. This is a nice reminder to myself that progress is happening. Sometimes I can be tough on myself, but looking back at these calculations; I have done a pretty good job! My goal is only 9.4lbs away, which feels unreal still to me. I never imagined being this weight ever! This journey has not been easy, but every day is worth it! I started my serious journey to lose weight back in January of 2010. It took my 11 months to lose 44lbs, it was not easy, and the scale would go up and down. I also had the help of a weight loss drug called Phentermine. You can only take it for 3 months at a time, and I took it two different times during this 11 month period. I don't think I would have been able to lose the 44lbs without it, and I am grateful for that, but defiantly not something you want to depend on to lose weight. I never did feel "healthy" when taking it. When I stopped taking it, the weight almost immediately started coming back on.

I had my Sleeve in December of 2010, and it has taking me almost 4 months to lose another 40 lbs, funny! But I really do feel healthy now, and I am really glad I made that decision. I am a much happier person now, with a lot more energy and confidence.  It has taken some time for me to get used to my new body, but I am getting there.  I didn't realize that would be hard for me to do, but it has been

Has it really been 8 weeks already?

Feb 09, 2011

Wow, I cant believe that tomorrow will be my 8-week post-op mark! I am still amazed everyday when I wake up and weigh myself. It is quiet different to actually be lossing weight than gaining it. I keep thinking that this is a dream, and it is hard for me to accept that this is actually happening... I am sure it will all really set in soon.

I am happy to say that I went clothes shopping, and I am down from a size 16, to a size 10, and the 10's are already getting to be lose on me! I also had to buy a new bra because I have shrunk a little in that area as well.

It feels good to feel good. I am able to eat what I want, as long as I chew it well and eat slowly (this is my biggest struggle to this day).  I am snacking a lot more than I was before, but I make sure it is healthy. This really does keep up your metabolism.

I am still hearing from a lot of people that I did not need the Sleeve, or that they had no idea I was 70lbs heavier at some point. This does make me feel a little self concious at times. But a year ago today, I weighed 70lbs more than I do today... I was able to lose 40lbs on my own through dieting, lifes style changes, and a lot of exercising, but as soon as October and all that nummy Halloween candy came around, the weight started to creep back on. I was done with the up and down results, and I wanted something more premanant for me. I am 30, and I want to live the rest of my life being healthy.

I am just now starting to work-out. I am excited to get toned up and looking great by summer time!

Wendy's Chili

Jan 04, 2011

I had Wendy's Chili today for lunch, and it was absolutely AWESOME!
I am surprised I was able to eat half of a small size. (which is only 110 calories)..
It went down really nicely and I am full!

I am having a hard time getting in all of my fluids, but crystal light does help a little!

Feeling Good

Dec 31, 2010

I think my  body is finally getting used to my new stomach. I am feeling pretty good today, except for the upper back pain, and not sleeping last night.... I realized yesterday after my first post-op nutrition visit that I was taking in too much Protein. I was averaging 110 grams of protein a day! So I cut out 2 protein shakes yesterday, and I have already lost 1.4lbs.  I was wondering why my weight was staying the same this whole week. I am taking all of my vitamins as directed, which surprises me, but makes me happy, i actually like them!

Anyways, today is going to be a great day!
