Nov 5th, 2006 -  I am scheduled to have my gallbladder taken out Tuesday.   I can't wait to get rid of this nasty little organ!   I don't have gall stones, but its not working like it should be.
I am offically down 57 pounds.   I still want to lose about 35-40 more.
My orginal surgeon is doing my gallbladder surgery.   After that I plan to switch surgeons.   One that will hopefully give me enough fill so that I can have some restriction.   I really don't expect the band to do all the work, but I do expect it to dim my appetite just a little bit.  Plus this other guy is a lot cheaper with his fills.  It is a further drive, but it will be worth it.  That is all for now.
Here is a pic of me and Tom on fall picinic.

September 30th - I am still thinking about switching surgeons.  I
believe that Dr. Boyce has lied to me about my second fill.   He told me
that he put in .25 ccs.  When I went for my third fill he ask me now we
took out fluid last time, right?   I said I don't think so.  He replied I
am pretty sure we did.  My first fill he gave me a little over 2.0
cc's, my second fill he gave me .25 cc's.  I figured I had close to 2.5
cc's.   Guess what I ended up leaving with from my third fill. Under 2
cc's.   I really don't get hung up in the numbers, I just want
restriction.  The reason for getting a fill is to have more restriction.  I am paying alot of money to be looser everytime I go.  He also couldn't get
the needle in my port again.  After about 20 pokes he finally got it.  He
was upset that he couldn't get it.  If I wouldn't have lost 400 dollars
to the hospital I would have made him stop.  There is a Dr. in
Maryville (about an hour away) that will take Dr. Boyce's patients if they are unhappy.  Or so I've heard.  I haven't actually called yet.  Still
trying to make my mind up.  My weight loss has stalled.   I have even been exercising too.  I guess I am going to have to give up some more food.   A good fill level would probally help.    Even though I am aggravated, I still love my band!

July 11 - I found out why my knees have been hurting.   I have arthitis
that is eating away at the back of my knee caps.   Dr. said losing
weight was one of the best things I can do.   I'm so glad that I had
already lost over 50 pounds.   I didn't get defensive like I would've in the past.   I am going to start physical therapy and maybe try a cortisone
shot.   I was discouraged when I found out that I will eventually need
both knees replaced.   I was told I would be doing good if I could make
it 10 years before surgery.   Hopefully I can prove them wrong.   I
haven't lost any weight lately.   Gaining and losing the same couple of
pounds.  I think I may get another fill.   I am just scared that I will
get too tight.  I am thinking of switching surgeons.   Another Dr. 2
hours away does fills a whole lot cheaper than my current Dr.  I have got to get back in a regular excersise routine and just say no to sweets.  I am going to the beach in three weeks, so maybe that will motivate me to get the weight loss jump started again.
Here is me and my best bud Eli.

June 14th -  I can't believe it has already been 1 year since I got my
band.   I am down a total of 53 pounds.   I would have loved to have
lost more, but I know I am doing great to have lost that much.
Without my band I would weigh over 300 pounds by now.   I have almost
quit exercising.    My knees are giving me a fit.  I went to my family
dr. yesterday.   She thinks I may need surgery.    She is referring me
to a orthopedic dr.   I really don't want surgery, but I am also over my
knees hurting too.   I have been really struggling with my sweet tooth
for the past few weeks.   I have got to back on track.   My surgeon is
very happy with what I have lost.   I thought that he wanted me to
weigh 143.   He told me once that was my "ideal" weight.   I know I will
never be that small.   I am 5'8, I think I would terrible that little.
Anyway,   I was very surprised when he said I could weigh as much as
185 pounds.   That's only 32 pounds.   I still can't wait to be in the
100's again.  My goal is to make it there by my 27th b-day on Oct 18th.
I personally want to get down to 170.    Theres just something about
losing 100 pounds that sounds so good!    It may take me a while, but I
know I can do it.    I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!

April 2nd -   I went for my second fill friday.   I was so happy that
my surgeon found my port without any trouble.  He gave me 1/2 of a cc.
That should give me a total of 2.5 cc's in my 4 cc band.   I have lost
a total of 47.5 pounds.   I started a rotating shift at work.   One
week I work day shift and the next week I work evenings.  I am trying to
get my eating and exercising on  a scedule.   I am still loving my band.
I weigh 222.5 pounds.   I can't wait to hit onederland.   Only 23 more
pounds!
Here are some pics from our recent cruise.
Someone offered to take our picture and this is how they turned out!

January 22, 06  -   I am still losing.   It's slow, but steady.   I
have lost 40 lbs.   I am averaging losing a little over 1 pound a week.
I am doing great on exercise.  I started water aerobics class this week
and I love it!   I have been able to jog for 10 minutes straight.   I
went a mile in just 15 minutes.   I sure couldn't have done that
weighing 270.   Only 30 pounds before I weigh in the 100's.   I can't
wait!!!!!

Nov 05, 2006

December 26th, 05 -  Well I survived the holiday season.   I don't
think I gained any!   That is a first for me.  I normally put on around 15
pounds from Halloween til Christmas.   I didn't make the best food
choices, but I am still proud of myself.   I did have some sweets, but I
didn't eat everything in sight.   I guess it helps that I have a cold and
have lost my appetite.   I think I have lost around 35 pounds.   I
changed jobs, so I no longer have access to the scales that I started out
weighing on.   I have an appointment with my surgeon Jan. 11.   I
haven't had another fill.   I could probally use a little bit more fluid.  It
is just so expensive to get a fill that I am trying to wait until I
really need one.   I am still doing good with my exercise.   Although I
didn't work out any last week.  I will not make myself go when I am sick.
I average going 3-4 times a week.   I have been jogging.   I never
thought I would be jogging.  I don't go very fast and I can't go very far,
but you have to start out somewhere.    I think I am dropping inches
more than I am pounds.  I never took my measurements cause I just did not
want to know how big I actually was.  My Dad got me a pair of size XL
pjs for Christmas.  I didn't think there was any way that they would
even come up over my hips.   THEY FIT!!!   Now they are a little tighter
than I would like, but THEY FIT!   I am still wearing a pair of 3x
sweatpants to the gym.   I did get some new work out clothes for Christmas.
I still love my band and do not regret having surgery at all!

Nov 9, 05 - I love my band!   I am down 30 pounds.  Slow and steady
wins the race.   I try to work out at least three times a week.   My gym
has a swimming pool.  I love swimming, so it feels like I am playing
instead of working out.

Oct 2 - I finally joined a gym.   I still haven't actually worked out
there yet, but I will.  I walked three times this past week over a mile
each time.  I love having restriction.  I hope this fill will last for
a while.  The scale keeps moving downward.  I am going to drop by my
surgeons office one day this week just get an "offical" weight.  I had my
first pb (productive belch).  It was not fun at all.  I will never eat
deli chicken again!  I have been having some heartburn lately.  I never
had heartburn before surgery.  I just hope everything is ok with my
band.  Doc said it looked fine when he done my fill under fluro.  I need
to remember to take my pecpid 2x a day.  Well that's all for now.
Here is a picture on an outing to the zoo.

Nov 05, 2006

Sept 23, 05 - I love my band.  It is so great to have restriction.  I
love being full after eating a small amount.  I stay full for hours too.
I hope it stays this way I don't have to get another fill.  By my
surgeons scales I had lost 5 pounds in 9 days.  Which puts me at a 21 pound weight loss. Nothing like being on liquids for a few days to jump start weight loss.   I had already lost 21 pounds by the scale at work a few weeks ago.  Which I did gain a couple of pounds before my fill.  I
don't go back to work until Oct 10th.   I think by work scales I would be
down about 25.   I am on my way!
