My name is Amy and I currently weigh 291 lbs. I started persuing gastric bypass surgery about 8 years ago and was turned down by my insurance company for not meeting the qualifications. Here I am 8 years later still persuing my dream. This time I have been very successful with the help of a wonderful family doctor who stands behind me 100% and has went the extra mile to help me reach my goal as well as several co-workers who have also went the extra mile. I attended another support group meeting in June 2009 and from there the ball started rolling. (Sometimes faster than I wanted!) I have completed every step necessary and have been scheduled for surgery on Tuesday November 24, 2009!!!! I'm very nervous and a little scared, but I know with the support of my family, my friends, my wonderful doctors and co-workers I will pull through this and live my dream!
