Crazy how time flys!

Sep 17, 2010

I have lost hair, apatite, a nail, some more of my sanity and am ALREADY 3 1/2 months after surgery 80 pounds lighter!!! Its been at quite a cost, in my eyes, but for the most part the side effects have been common for this procedure. I did have a large water pocket along the incision line that was very painful but everything else is a matter of adjustment.
Adjustments for myself to maintain being health as i was prior; taking the medicines, keep water going through me,  eating and correctly all while my body doesn't seem to want anything 80% of the time!
Adjustments of outdoor/country home chores, limiting activity and i have never even sat still though an entire movie!
Adjustments in emotions that peel away with the pounds, not to mention hormonal changes. ( I know corny but very true!)
Adjustments in looking for work, continued health care......WE ALL KNOW ITS GOING TO HAPPEN AND BE A CHANGE OF LIFE but when it comes your turn, you really realize there's so much more going to happen.
Between missing the summer activities, breaking up with a love, finding new physical damage to my joints/nerves and having to play the weighting game in healing and getting employment and such going...the frustration level is at full tilt!
Open abdominal after trying to go laproscopicly was a rough way to go but was a DEARLY unfortunate need. Not only do i have tire track looking staple scars from cleavage to bellybutton i have 5 1-2inch incisions cross way too!
All i have to say is LOOSE AS MUCH WEIGHT AS POSSIBLE AND STICK TO STRICT GUIDELINES PRIOR TO SURGERY you do not want opened up all the way. I tried my best and lost over 30 but i still am haunted by "if i just would tried harder maybe there would been enough room to do it l;aroscopiclly".

I am truly going to make some time to go over this at least 2x's a mo or more if able from internet connection problems out here because having no support hasn't helped either....with the trials of my health problems before surgery i made a assumption because i have this time line of needs and charted months ahead the after life wouldn't be near as bad or hard. WRONG! its more work and w/o the energy to do any of it!
Take it from me...count on the worst..then you wont be so disappointed and depressed.

No pregnancy. BP wasn't to bad for forgetting i was still supposed to be on one of the meds. lol Have to see my surgeons nurse and dietitian n a couple weeks but am already starting back with my on nutritionist. Things seem to be going well so far. I wish my neasua was better with half my tummy gone but no its not and i am touchier to different foods now it seems. Which is a real let don cause i always had a touchy tummy prior, really since a kid so i guess i should be used to it right? ughh not a fun thing.

Post Op Dr. Appt #2 w/ PCP

Jun 23, 2010

It's tomorrow and I am a little nervous. Didn't even cross my mind that was probably on antibiotics from surgery via IV so birth control might not be working properly. I was lucky enough to have sexual drive and now the worry of after yrs of good birth control having one thing out of so much that's going on right now slip my mind that could be monumental. How reckless.

NOTE TO GIRLS: Never forget about antibiotics hindering your birth control and that things like surgery really do mess with your monthly! My roommate who's near my age didn't even know that antibiotics could or would effect it and shes been in medicine!

Some other things I have questions about is physical therapy, blood work results, lumps and rash areas around my lovanox injection sites, to see if i even need half the blood pressure medicine they have me on as the other medicine was taken away and i no longer have type 2 from the surgery! Oh and disability forms for my student loans as this is just the first step for me.
I have been on disability for a year now unable to work a solid schedule from Barrett's complications, joint and foot pain and a mix of it all.
Been a rocky road...lets pray its getting smoother!
