Update on my progress

Mar 22, 2011

So its been almost 7mths since my Gastric Bypass Surgery and I am down 120lbs. I can honestly say it was a lot easier then any diet I have tried and failed on in the past. I am able to enjoy all the food I like and its cooked healthier and in smaller portions. I am just proud of myself because I was able to finally conquer an issue that has affected me my entire life and that was obesity. I always was told if you put your mind to something you can truly do it and I am living proof.  I entered this process for me and no one else. I am the only one that can take care of my body.   I am close to my goal weight and hope I can hit it by my one year anniversary. I have about 50lbs left to lose so I have a healthy BMI.  I actually enjoy excercising and never thought those words would come out of my mouth. I started out slow by working out 3 days a week. I feel in love with Zumba which works every muscle in your body. I figure I would do cardio do burn the fat then I will tone myself up. I am very fortunate that I do not have one ounce of loose skin. The only issue that is bothering me is the hair loss. Fortunately I started with very thick hair and now its cut short and its thinner.  I know that will only last a few months and hopefully some of my hair will grow back.  I feel special and honored by all the emails I receive from peop le that want to start or are already in the process towards the surgery. I know everyone's experience is different and I am very lucky to not have any side effects and I have followed the Doctor and his team's instructions to the tee. I don't know if anyone else endured this but before this surgery I never got that full feeling. So I appreciate the full feeling now and it guides me how to prepare meals for each day.  I love sharing my story with anyone that will listen and I am hear if anyone has questions about the surgery and its process.  My best advice for someone that wants to have this surgery is to prepare yourself mentally and physically and make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Do it for yourself and no one else. Remember the only person that is going to take care of you is you!!!!  Good Luck Friends!!!
