So I met with the nurse at the surgeons' office today. She was so nice and knowledgeable, and answered every one of my silly questions. The first hoop has been leapt through, but I think I may be able to have the surgery sooner than I had anticipated.
I made the mistake of walking to the surgeons' office, though. It's about six blocks from my workplace but I killed myself with even that distance. Considering when she weighed me I was at 374.2 lbs, I shouldn't be surprised. I'm exhausted and my ankles burn like crazy now. I'm waiting for the Advil to kick in so I can get some sleep.
So my next steps are the meeting with the dietician (required by my insurance company) and the psych eval. My first meeting with the psychologist is 5/22 (sooner than I expected). Hoop #2, here I come.

BMI: 56.9 (again with the sheesh)

I went to my information session last night. Holy crap that's a lot to take in. Now I did go through the session with a different surgeon a few years ago, and I've been been researching this for quite awhile, but this is probably the first time I've been faced with everything I thought I knew (and then some) in a 1 1/2 hour period. My brain was stuffed, my rear end was numb, and the freakout was starting in full force. I couldn't wait to get home.
Now I've read some of the manual, filled out some of the paperwork, and had a little time to digest (no pun intended) some of the information. I think I'm really ready to do this.
My next appointment is 5/7 to see the surgeon's nurse.

Went to my Primary and got a referral for surgery. I had already scheduled an orientation session with St. Paul Surgeons, so I'm glad I didn't have to whine and beg. My best friend is going with me. She had the surgery three (?) years ago. I'm glad she's going to be there for the frantic hand-holding.
My basic vitals turned out to be not as bad as I thought, but I'm a half-inch shorter than I'd always believed. Hmm...now I'm really lying on my driver's license.

Height: 5'8 1/2" (what's up with THAT!)
BP: 114/78
Next step? Orientation on 4/19.
