Much better!

Nov 13, 2008

Three days on liquid protein for morning and lunch and small protein dinner, not eating OR drinking anything after 8pm and it seems my band and body are doing MUCH better.

A little behavior modification and a swift kick in the rump ...  I am back on track. On my way to goal of 135.

Thank goodness because I was just about to get an unfill and I KNOW this all happened because I was FIGHTING my band and body. I'd eat through the pain. Really stupd when I think about it. Boy am I glad I had the upper GI. And so glad Dr. Brams spent a good deal of time asking me questions about how I eat. I was thinking about his questions for 48 after I left and it dawned on me. I was sick from the flu and strep with a massive unfill for so long I FORGOT what the losing phase was like. I totally forgot I used to have to eat 5 meals a day. That in the morning I have to stick to yogurt and lunch is small.

It's amazing how fast you can revert. Then again I learned all those eating habbits in 37 years. It's like 2 years is like asking to lose 100 pounds overnight.

Back to really focusing and making sure I track EVERY morsal and every adverse event.

Off to bed. Will be insteresting to see if I am "tight" in the morning!

What the [beep] ... Stretched Pouch!

Nov 11, 2008

Dear OH friends,

I had an upper GI today and it appears I have slightly stretched my pouch from not listening to when my body was full!! The dreaded head hunger versus body hunger. yes still 3 years out!

Then I reviewed everything with my surgeon and he says nothing can be done about it. It’s just a slight stretch. He went on to say that being at the same weight for a year that I've probably lost all that I can with the band at this stage.

My response was "No way, when I come back I'll be down to my personal goal!!" He laughed. He thinks the band has aggravated my stomach and throat which is really what brought me in there in the first place

He suggested to take out 1cc to let everything chill out. I said let me work on my behavior modification with my new website (CFBN) and see how I do. He was FASCINATED with CFBN and said I had really hit upon something that could go far. THAT was cool.

So I have to elevate the head of my bed, stop eating AND drivink 3 hours before bed and pay VERY close attention when my stomach is ful. I'll admit. I've been naughty and eating through when I should stop.

I do have to say that watching the barium dye go down my throat past my band then stomach was freaking cool. I am restricted so it's not about going tighter. Behavior modification and exercise and not over eat. I’ve spent the whole afternoon trying to figure out when I stretched my pound. And I think I’ve just been eating overeating and ignoring the pain. He said I need to really listen because I could stretch my pouch even more!!

Gosh. 3 years out and I’m sooooo damn close to being where I want to be.

So close.

On the flip side EVERYTHING else with my band is perfect.

I gotta be honest wit y'all I've been tight and slimed some recently but I never thought I'd stretched my upper pouch!! He also talked me in detail about HOW I have been eating. Lots feedback there. I have to listen to my own damn advice!

.... what a bummer!!

As a side comment … Dr. Brams is the best!
