I'm out for at least 6 months
Aug 14, 2008
I got a surprise call from a nurse case manager from presbyterian and she told me that it is their "policy" that any person interested in having the surgery must complete a 6 month log of their food intake and exercise, meet with a nutritionalist, meet with a psychiatrist (to see if you can mentally handle the surgery) and of course have the recommendation from the Doctor. So it looks like I will be giving weight loss w/o the surgery another shot for the millionth time. Of course I hope it works but we will see. Oh and I also cancelled the appeal because how dumb does it look to have an appeal there with no proof of anything.
Here I go.....

I was seen by my PCP July 29th and requested to have the surgery to him. He said that he thought it would be a good idea. He didn't run any tests but submitted the request anyway. I thought that was really strange but hey what can I say he is the professional not me. Well I was calling my insurance everyday cause I was so positive that I was going to get the authorization and I wanted the auth# right away so I can call and get a consultation appointment with the surgeon. I called Thursday and I was denied. I don't know why I was expecting a yes when I barely met the PCP that one time and he didn't even do a single test on me. So I have changed PCP's and I am hoping she can help me better than what the other one did. I cannot see her until October 9th though but I am going to appeal it for now though even though without the Doctors referral I have no case.
