June 5

Today is June 5th and just in 30 days I will be going in to have my WLS. I don’t believe how fast everything is happing. I must say I hand to give my self a boost of confidence. Over the weekend I hit the clearance racks. At Old Navy I found a pair of size 16 jeans for $9.00 I could not pass that up. I know I hope I will be able to slide in them by next summer. Well my pre-op office visit with Dr. Abkin is scheduled for June 15th. 2 weeks before my actual surgery.

June 9th

Today I had made my official checklist of things I need to do before I have my Pre-Op office visit with Dr. Abkin (next week 6/15/06). I have so many goals. First and fore most I hope to have lost a few pounds when I go to the Dr.'s next week- if not I have 2 weeks to loose 10 pound (keep me in prayer). My first goal is to be down 30 pounds for my 1st month Post Op once I have climbed that hill half way, I will be begin working towards my 2nd goal - which is to be down 50 pounds by my 3rd month Post Op. I believe that GOD will guide me through this entire transformation.

Over the last couple of days I begin to read and chat with a few OH members and they are so thoughtful enough to reply back and give me the support and advice I need so I need to give a great Big Shot out from Jersey to Total Package & Ms. Deri continue to keep up the good work. Until next time.

June 21, 2006

Hey OH family…. Well since the last time I posted, I did not have my post-op session that was scheduled for 6/15. My appointment was canceled. And rescheduled for June 29th. Which I was kind of mad about because that is 3 days before my surgery date. I am almost there as of today I have 11 days before I will be rolled in to the OR. (Yahoo..). I am excited - and at the same time a little nervous. With much prayer I believe it will be all right. The good thing is I lost 5 pounds since my first office visit on 4/28. I have posted my pre-op pictures on my picturetrail web site. Until next time. (337 pds - 5)

July 7, 2006 (POST - OP)

Well Hello OH family… I mad it to the loser’s side yahoo…. Today I feel a lttle better than yesterday. Well to begin I am 4 days post –op and I fell good. Well to give you a brief update on how everything went. I arrived at Morristown Memorial Hospital at 1:00 PM checked in and 20 minutes after that I was taken in the OR for Vital, Pregnancy Test. My doctor was behind schedule by 30 minutes. My surgery was scheduled for 3:30 PM and I was rolled in to the operating room at 4:10. Once I was in the operating room I was greeted by operating physician and a few of his counter parts. And everyone was excellent. Once I woke up from surgery an OR nurse was preparing me to be moved to my room. I was up in my room at 7:00 PM or so and my sister, brother, came to see me for the first time since I went in to surgery. My roommate that I had was one of the young ladies that I meet at my 3 hr. pre-op session. She was very nice. The nurses and the staff was OK they could have been a little bit faster in responding to the call bell though. I was home within 2 days of my stay very soar (my drain was taken out). I could not sleep or lie down. Once I started taking my pain medication the pain decreased a little bit. As of today I am 4 days post-op I am on a liquid diet. Food that I am able to tolerate. Chicken broth, Jell-o (sugar free), Crystal Lite (pink lemonade). Sugar Free Popsicles. I begin taking my prolsec – OTC along with my multivitamin (Centrum chewable). Today I begin my protein shake (designers whey) I was only able to get 6 oz in. I will try to do better tomorrow. My 1 week doctors appointment is scheduled for next Wednesday (7/12). I will update you with the progress along with my pre-op Pictures. Until Next Post

I loss a total of 17 pounds in 1 week (Yeah….) I was happy about that but I was a little sad about that I had a infection in one of my wounds which I am currently treating. My doctor said it is noting major to worry about it happens to a lot of patients. I have been advanced to soft foods. So here are a few choices I have been eating with no problems.
1. Egg Beaters
2. Tuna Fish
3. Deli Turkey Breast (fat free – low sodium)
4. Poly-O String Cheese (low fat)
5. Tilapia (Baked)
6. Diet Snapple (Taste 100% better that crystal light)
7. Jell-O (Sugar Free)
I have to see my doctor on 7/27 to check on my infection to make sure everything is OK. By that time I would like to look in to joining a gym. I hope this infection is gone when I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks. Check out my pre-op Surgery pictures on my picture trail. Until next time

August 7, 2006 - (1 Month Post-Op)

Hey – OH Family Sorry for the late up-date. Well I had my first WOW moment – I am less than 300 pounds in 30 days. I am 297 and my BMI is 49.4. (Total weight loss 44 pounds from my highest and 33 pounds since surgery). I guess am doing ok. I have joined curves last week and I am enjoying it. My doctor as put me on a regular diet. I am still eating soft foods, cause don’t want my weight loss to slow down. I think I am wearing a 26 comfortably. So I only lost 1 size. Although after the gym yesterday I stopped by fashion bug and I tried on a size 24 jeans – I got in them but they were extremely tight. I can’t weight for the coffee table (BUTT) decrease. This is my biggest problem area but I am working it out everyday. I am still having a problem getting the protein in. Although I ordered this new protein shake Nectar Fuzzy Navel which taste a lot better than the Designers Whey (Thanks Ms. Deri). The sad news to this update is next week I go back to work on Tuesday 8/15. Actually I am looking forward to going back to work. For my next month goal I would like to me in a size 24 and 285 pds. I think I can do it. So far I have been meeting all of my goals from the beginning. Please keep me in prayer.

September 5, 2006 - (2 months)

Hey – OH Family:
I am 2 months post-op and I feel great. This month what a ride…. I am down to 284.0 pounds. That’s is 57 pounds from my highest weight and 46 pounds since surgery. I am still trying to maintain my 3 days a week of curves – that seem to be going OK. I am in 24 pants/jeans and 22/24 tops. Thank you Jesus…. I have increased my vitamins to B-12 twice a day and started taking vitamin – E. I must say it is true what they say about the protein and the water along with the green tea. It really MOVES THE WEIGHT…. I increased my water and protein and I try to drink green tea twice a day. I really still do not eat much food. And it is starting to get a bit scary cause I don’t really feel hungry either. This month I went to 2 barbecues’ and I did not go over board with the eats. I did not even gain a pond but I actually lost a few pounds. I really still have not got the concept of my tool yet but I am working on it. I tell one thing it is a beautiful thing to have been blessed with such an amazing tool.

I go for my 3-month check up on 10/3 and I hope to be down a 10 pounds. I am going to work this tool this month. I notice though when my monthly come on your weight goes up a few pounds. I have to stop getting on the scale every day. Starting this month I am only going to get on the scale once a week. I have a few goals that I want to jot down for my 3-month anniversary.

3 Month-Goals
1. To be down another 10 pounds (274)
2. To be wearing my size 22 pants/jeans
3. 1 st Obesity walk (9/23)
4. Increase my work-out to 30 min-45min

It seem like I have been keeping up all of my goals by the grace of “GOD” he is my EVERYTHING. Oh before I forget I am reading an awesome book by Juanita Bynum – “Walking in to your Destiny” ISBN 1-59979-00-9. It is my spiritual daily food. I am going to try to read 2 books a month. I am sorry that I don’t have any 2-month’s pictures to update at this time. Hopefully by my 3-month post I will have some pictures to update – sorry. Until next month.

October 3, 2006 – 3 Months…

Well Hello OH family. I had my 3-month follow up visit on yesterday. I am down to 271 pounds (Drum roll please….) I have not seen that since 1999 that is 70 pounds from my highest weight and 58 pounds since the day of surgery. I went to the gym to get my measurements. I have lost a total of 17 ½ inches (Bust –2, Waist –2, Abdomen –3, Hips –3.5, Thighs –6). All I can say is Thank You Jesus!! I know there is GOD who sits up high and monitor me from time to time. I give you all the glory. This month was a challenge for me. Although I made it like any other month I did make my month goal like I wanted to. My food choices are the same. – I did have a dumping syndrome on last Friday. And I hope I never feel like that again. And to be honest I can’t tell you what I dumped from. But as I speak to other people who have had the surgery dumping can have a delayed reaction. What I mean by that is it could have been some thing you ate 1-2 days ago. Other than that I feel real good. I have not brought any new cloths yet. I want to wait until I get to 240. I think I am in 22-24’s still depending on cut and store. I can fit old navy XL tee shirts and Jackets yahoo… I love Old Navy, Conway, and Target. I am not ready for the bigwig stores yet (Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, and Nostrums). Although I can’t wait to see how much I weigh and what size I will be in Year –End (July 3, 2007). I am looking forward to my size 16 pants, jeans. Everyone keeps asking me what is my goal. In the beginning of my journey I sad 180. However that is to close to 200. So for right now I would like to see 165-170, hopefully size 12-14 would be real nice. I am getting so many complaints at work. People at work say I look good what ever it is that you are doing keep up the good work. Of course my response is thank you. I tell you one thing I had got some much encouragement from watching Celebrity Fit Club 4. We are not the only one’s in this struggle. The surgery is only a portion of your new life. Now you MUST maintain. You have to eat healthy right for the rest of your life including exercise. If it one thing I have learned from my last 3 months of surgery is that this process is mental and emotional challenge rather than the love of food – mind over matter. I am looking forward to my 6th month follow up visit in January. This month goals are as follows. I want to 260 I know I have to work my butt off in the gym but I got to do what I got to do. I need to set-up my workout big time, which I can do it. I know it can happen with prayer – See Ya next month!

November 7, 2006 - (4 months)

Well Hello OH  - Family… Sorry for the late post but it has been am extremely busy month. For me.  Well first and for most I need to take a moment and give GOD all the Glory.  This month has been a fantastic one for me.  I lost a total of 15 pds. Did I work the tool this month or what? I tell you one thing…. up your protein drink green tea 2-3x a day a get in as much H2O (water) see how fast the weight will move. Well here are the stats for this month. I am currently weight 255 pds. – I have lost 86 pds. from my weight and 75 pounds since surgery. I lost a total of 14 inches (bust -2, waist -4, abdomen-3, hips -3 , thighs -1, and arms -1) this month. Yeah…. I hope I can keep this up maybe I will make my goal of 170 by year-end – and hopefully I will get in my size 16 jeans. I have started taking Biotin for my hair, skin, and nails. I thing I am in those 22’s that I wanted to get in. so I am so happy about that. I had an old sweater from a few years ago that was a XL and I said to my self let me give it a try and it fit. I was so happy. I had NO dumping syndrome this month so now I am getting a little better with my food choices. I am still getting complaints on my weight loss – I keep saying to my self I am still fat… But not as fat as I was 4 months ago.  So Again THANK YOU JESUS…  The most exciting thing that happened to me this month was a close friend of mine had her surgery on 11/1 and I am so happy for here. I know the struggle of being over weight -  I have been over weight most of my childhood life.  So to know some else is in the race along with you makes me feel real good. So Marlene I just want to give you a quick shot out and wish you good luck on your journey. I am looking forward to another great month.  This month my goal is to be down to 243 pounds I know I can do it.  All I have to do is keep my faith… GOD said you could do anything that your heart desires.  Oh one last thing before I make my closure I watched Oprah a few weeks ago and she had some guests who under went to GP surgery and they now suffer severe elements i.e. (Depression, alcoholism, sexuality issues etc…) I hope and pray that this does not happen to me. When you become healthy and happy you are suppose to be able to enjoy your life.  Words of advice don’t trade one disease for another. Sorry but I have not posted any new pictures look forward to some new pictures on my picture trail next month I do apologize for this.  But I see OH have upgraded their site now. I am working on changing from the old to the new profile.  See you next month.

Hey OH family just poping in to say Happy Thanksgiving!

December 4, 2006 - (5 months)

Well Hello OH Family – I have to give GOD “ALL THE GLORY” this has been the most interesting month ever.  Well to let you know I am weighting in at 240.4 that is 90 pounds since surgery and 101 from my highest weight. I am so pound of my self. I am in a size 20 pants/jeans Yeah for me… This month was very challenging with Thanksgiving in all.  But thought the grace of GOD I made it through. Thanksgiving was my first family appearance since I had the surgery and I was so gracefully thankful for all the complaints. This tool so amazing. I shock my self sometime. I slowed down exercising but I am getting back on try this week. I am going to begin doing curves again 2-3X a week. I have joined a support group and I encourage all of you post op/Pre op to get involved in support groups.  I had my WOW moment – I went on a Bus Ride in New York a few weeks ago and I was able to sit comfortable in the seat with my handbag... that has been such a challenge for me. So GOD I thank you! Just like I promised last month I did add a few new pictures to my homepage please check it out. Of course I make by goal from last month. YEAH….. This month goal is to be 229 that is only 11 pounds.  I know it is going to be hard but I know I can do it.  I am going to bump up my water and exercise to see if this makes a difference we shall shall next month. I will be 6 months on my next post which means I am half through my 1st 12 months.  I can’t wait to see what I will look at year end (7/3/07).  I hope and pray I will make it in to my size 16 jeans/pants/suits. Until next time stay blessed.

January 10, 2006

Hello OH – Family Sorry for the late post.  I wanted to have my 6th month check up.  I want to announce I am officially a Century Club Member. Well this has been one of the most difficult months of them all. Just to make note. On 12/22 I ended up in the Emergency Room with abdominal pain I have not experienced this kind of pain before.  It felt like gas or maybe even an upset stomach. Once I was in the ED and they ran my blood work and took all my vitals everything check out good.  I had to have a CAT scan to make sure there was no internal bleeding and my intestines was not crossed or twisted up.  The CAT scan came back ok – still no clue to why I was having these pain.  The Dr’s at the hospital seem to believe I developed an ulcer over the past few months so they prescribed me Nexium. Which I have been taking since this episode I have felt 110% better.  Well I followed up with my doctor and he said that everything seem to be fine but just be sure that we are treating you correctly I am going to order a Upper GI endosocpy test.   I have scheduled for next week. (Please keep me in prayer). As of yesterday I am 227 ponds so that is a lost of 114 before and 103 after surgery so yes I am happy and very proud of my self so I made my month goal. So “GOD” I thank you. This month I would like to loose 10 pounds by 2/3/06.  I will be happy – I don’t have any new pictures to update at this time… (sorry!) I promise to have a few for next month.  I have a few events that I will be attending.  I am so excited be going to the Beacon Theater to see: Love in the nick of tyme starring Morris Chestnut. Well folks I thank you all for listening and reading through my journey and believing in me when I didn’t believe in my self. May God continue to bless each and every one of you and I will see you next month.
