5 year update

Jun 22, 2011

OMG!! I did not realize it has been so long. So many things have happened in my life since my gastric bypass. Boy how life just flies by. The last time I posted I was pregnant and now Layla is 2 1/2. I only gained 35 pounds with this pregnancy and I was able to get it all of except for about 5 lbs. Much better than my two pregnancies pre weight loss surgery. Where I gained 65 lbs each pregnancy and never did get it all off. Layla was born perfectly healthy and on time at 7lbs 3 oz. She is now a wild and terrible two year old. As for me I am holding at 140 lbs, a far cry from my pre weight of 252. I pray everyday that I never go back to that. I continue not be able to eat much sugar, with 12 grams being my limit before I dump. Also, if I eat two much sugar I have a low blood sugar episode within about an hour. My tasted have still changed. I prefer baked and grilled, over fried. I also love fish, chicken and seafood. I would prefer not to eat red meat, but occasionally still do. The biggest thing that has happen to me lately is that I had to have back surgery for a degenerative disc. While I was out on leave for this and already having surgery, I opted to do plastics. This was the best decision that I have ever made for myself. I was just recently contact by my local newspaper. They want to interview me about my surgery and success. I love to share my story and hope that I am an inspiration to others. So I graciously accepted.

2 Year Post op Update

Apr 01, 2008

Well it has been another year. Where does time go? Everything has been going well with me. I don't have any serious post op complications. I have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia, which is low blood sugar. I have learned to deal with that through altering my diet. I still have a problem with dumping, if I eat more than about 12 grams of sugar. I have found out if I eat enough sugar to cause me to dump, then this is when I will have a low blood sugar attack. In a way this is good, it has kept me below my original goal. My current weight it 132. So I have not had a signinficant increase at all. By the way I am currently two months pregnant, so I will be expecting a little one the first of November. We are all very happy, except for my son and daughter arguing over what they want it to be. I pray I don't put on a lot of weight like I did with my other two pregnancies (65 lbs each time). I have been really watching what I eat and making sure it is healthy. I am one year into my graduate classes and expect to graduate in the fall with my Master's of Science in Nursing degree. Well that is all for now. I will try to update again before next year, but we will see how that goes with this busy life. Later!!

1 year post op

Apr 15, 2007

I know this is a little late, but life has just  been so busy. I am maintaining at 130. Which is 15lbs below my goal. I still don't excerise like I should but I do watch what I eat. With an occasional bad snack. I have had to do a lot of shopping again since the weather has warmed and I had no shorts to wear that fit. It is so nice to be able to shop comfortably. I am wearing a size 4 womens or 5 juniors. I do have some skin issues, but they are not all that bad and it can be covered up for the most part. I am wanting to try again for another baby this year so I am not even considering plastics at this point.  I have started back to school and am working on my Master's of Science in Nursing Education my first class is May 7th. So wish me luck. I will try to update again later. I have uploaded some new pics. Later!!

9 month post op

Jan 04, 2007

Well I made it through my first Christmas ever without gaining weight. I have actually lost more over the past month. My current weight is 131. That is a total loss of 121. I actually went to a store the other day to buy something to wear and there was nothing that would fit.  No pants in the store fit, but this time it was not because it was to small,  but because it was all to big. That sure is a nice change.  I am currently wearing a women's 4 that is down from a 20.  I have noticed this month that I am able to eat more and am able to eat meat again. So now I will focus on not putting weight back on. It is nice to be able to say that this year my New Year's resolution is not to lose weight. I can now focus on other things. I am not going to post monthly update pictures anymore. They are not changing that much. Till next time. Later.

8 Months Post op

Dec 04, 2006

Wow, I can't believe how the time flies. It seems just like yesterday when I had surgery. I guess it is time for an update. I am currently 135 lbs. Yes that is right. 10 lbs below my goal. I have lost a total of 117 lbs. I had a check up with Dr. Sieloff early in November and he said that I would probably stay in the 130's somewhere just to keep up what I am doing. I am now wearing a size 5 juniors that is down from a women's 20-22 when I started this journey. Well life is so good. I can do so much more and have so much more energy. It is just hard to sit still long enough to do updates anymore. I will try to update again next month. I have posted a picture and I am smiling this time. Later.

Update!!

Nov 10, 2006

11/8/06 I had an update with Dr. Sieloff. My weight now is 138. I have lost a total of 114 lbs.  Some times it is hard to believe. I feel so much more at ease in my own body. I still need to go shopping though. Most of my clothes are size 10, but I think I wear 6-8's. I can wear my daughters jeans, as capris. She is much shorter than me. Dr. Sieloff said just to continue doing what I am doing. I probably want lose much more since I have lost so much already. I will probably just bounce around in the 130's, which is definetly fine by me. Well I will update some more pics later. They haven't changed much since last month. Later.

WOW!!

Oct 28, 2006

I couldn't believe it. I got up this morning and weighed. I was 139lbs. I can't believe it I am actually my ideal body weight. My goal was not even to get below 145, but it happened and I have really been trying to eat more lately.
