Frederrick Finelli

" Dr Frederick Finelli is the coolest!!! When I first met him I knew this was the man God had sent me. He walks in the room and before he could sit down I ask him “so you’re the guy that’s going to return me former drop-dead gorgeous self”, “ were you ever drop-dead gorgeous” he replies. “Yes, can’t you tell, I’m still rather cute!” “Well then I’m the guy!” That did it for me. He sat down rattled off the details of the procedure, side-effect and the fact the I could die. Followed by, “do you have any questions?” I looked him in the eye and asked…”have you ever lost a patient?” He took his glasses off, looked me in the eye and said “that’s a good question…no.” I could tell this subject made him nervous, I already knew the answer. He has never lost a patient on the table, but a patient did die due to complications WAY AFTER surgery. Because of the unforeseen event he goes the extra mile and now all patients are placed on blood thinners for 3 mos after surgery. Hey, it’s a hassle, but it I like a person that learns from the past. I work in the healthcare arena, fact I am a Risk Manager and Patient Safety Officer. I am proud to be the patient of a great surgeon like Dr. Finelli. Now to talk about the staff…hmmm how many ways can I say they are perfect??? As usual before you meet the MD, your 1st appt is with the nurse. Nancy, RN explained the surgery, what is needed for approval, went over the diet and importance of follow-up appts, as well as answered most questions. I too asked her about a patient dying on the table. (Poor thing, she didn’t see that one coming…but she was a professional) Now to talk about the young woman that handles all the paperwork…Salena Compassion coupled with professionalism. The best combo to have working in healthcare. So here I am waiting….I’ve had a cardiology clearance appt, meant with my PSP, had my blood drawn and have a Gallbadder Sono/Upper GI sch’d for in the morning. The only down side, Dr Finelli is making me take blood thinners for close to 6mos. I had a blood clot in my shoulder during pregnancy and I just so happened to have a surgeon who is cautions!!!! Can it get any better "
