I haven't posted anything in a while.... Since then my band slipped X2.  I think my band might have been too tight and sometime end of December 2011 it slipped cause I noticed a lot of heart burn.  I was told that sometimes when patients get close to their goal weight they suffer from heart burn? so I started talking heartburn pills.  Finally, I had the Upper GI (sometime in Feb 2012)  confirmed that my band slipped. I had the liquid removed- had another Upper GI- it showed that my band did go back to the original position and i had a fill. Soon after, started developing horrible heart burn again - was told to keep taking heart burn medicine. Went for another Upper-GI and once again it showed another slip - the second one . So here I go again...the fluid was removed from the band and need to schedule another Upper GI.  I am very frustrated because since the slip I had gained over 20 lbs.  I don't understand what is going on. I don't even want the band anymore....thinking about doing a revision to the sleeve. I don't understand what happened???

1st Fill

May 06, 2010

Yesturday I went in for my first fill.  It was nothing!! The doctor was great ...the whole procedure took maybe 2 minutes.  He told me everything that he was doing as he was doing it.  Which was: he gave me a shot to numb the area of the port ( which felt like a pinch: very fast) and then he placed the other needle with the fill and dug around slightly to find the port, checked to see how mch fluid I had and then injected the fill of little over 1 cc.  So, now I have a total of 3 cc's.  I have to be on all liquids for the next 24 hours, which I'm not too happy about because it doesn't fll me up.  But it's ok...I feel fine afterwards.  The only thing is is that I'm still having problems eating chicken for some reason.  Oh yes and I almost forgot to mention that when I stepped on the scale at the office I lost another 10 lbs.  That got me excited!!

3rd Day Post OP

Mar 28, 2010

Today is actually the 3rd day after the surgery and I woke up with less pain.    I'm so glad today is a little better didn't have to use my pain medication as much- which is GREAT!!  I can't wait until I go on puree foods since I will have more choices to eat, right now I can only do so much.  I did notice that in the morning I can't eat a yogurt unless I mix it with milk- too thick and it got stuck.  Won't do that again.  So far I've been doing the  liquid diet and haven't felt hungry.

The Big Day-Wednesday March 25, 2010

Mar 27, 2010

The day of surgery-very nervous, I was not excited just scared.  I had all the nurses around me asking me a few questions and before I knew it they gave me something to relax and I was taken to this big surgical room and all I remember was looking around the room and ....the nurse waking me up in the recovery room, after it was all over.  Everyone in the hospital was just great and the Surgeon was wonderful, no camplaints about the care. The only thing that I didn't know about was that I was going to be on ice chips until the next day.  Which the nurse expalined to me that they just wanted to make sure the band was in right and I wasn't having any problems- had to have a X-ray and MRI of the upper GI- I had to drink this horrible tasting dye while the radiologist  watched the fluid go down, then after the doctor reviewed it I finally got my first meal a cup of cream of chicken soup  yum tasted so good.  I'm in a lot of pain, my stomach is very sore-I've been taking medicine to elvate the pain.  It feels like I did a thousand push ups.  Hopefully that won't last long.

Pre-Op just a lot of feelings

Mar 22, 2010

I  have a couple of days before my surgery and starting to get cold feet.  There is alot of different opinions on the lap band sugery and reading all the complications and what can go wrong makes me more scared than exited.  There are also many inspirational stories that motivate me- thank you!  I just have to keep in mind that I need this in order to feel better and get off all that poison (medicine) which is making me feel worse.  Since I've been on the blood pressure medicaiton I put on extra 7 pounds, and my legs swell really bad.  I have asthma as well- I want to be able to walk up the stairs without feeling I'm going to pass out. Oh there is just so many things that I would like to do... I know it's a slow process which is fine with me.  I can:t wait to start shoping at a normal store.

My preop diet isn't going that great-basically I can't do 4 shakes and 1 meal/per day- instead I do 2 shakes and a couple of meals.  I try to stay away from carbs which has been going pretty well.  I've been eating tomatoes w/ spinach leaves and rotiserre chicken almost everyday.  I will try to keep posting.  I don't know what to expect but I'm sure it'll be good.
