MORE COMPLICATIONS

Sep 04, 2014

Well, as I was preparing for shoulder replacement surgery on Oct 8th I needed a CT scan. It showed an abnormality in my lung. They called and I went for another Ct of the lung. There was definitely a nodule. Had to see a lung surgeon, he felt antibiotics might help, they made me feel like I had the flu for 15 days. After finishing an ex ray and more labs were done and back to the Dr. No change, so he did a Bronchoscopy to get a biopsy and flush to remove the clogged area's in the lung. Thank God I just got the results no malignancy, labs showed no RA or Lupus both of which can cause these kind of nodules. Now, with this information it is a wait and see situation so the lung has a chance to completely become unplugged could take a few months. My breathing is labored which is keeping me from doing much of anything! Right now my goal is to not gain any more weight during this mess. Another CT scan in early Dec and then depending on results possible surgery. Here we go again. I get so discouraged, every time I attempt to 'get back on track' something else crops up. Not to mention that my shoulder and upper arm are useless to me and in constant pain. That surgery is on hold until this lung issue is completely resolved.

Back on the wagon

Jul 22, 2014

Last year in March of 13 I still had not gained a pound from the time of my surgery in '10. I had lost 126lbs and was very happy with my accomplishments. However, I began having problems with my ears, and after antibiotics, hearing tests and the like they could find nothing wrong with me, but I continued to have a strong white noise in both ears. They put me on prednisone (which I knew was the beginning of a big problem for my weight), but just couldn't live with the sound. It wasn't tinnitus, or any other ENT problem. One yr later I am still hearing the sound. After being on the prednisone for 3 months, and successful in removing the noise, I gained 10lbs. I was very upset and over time weaned off of the med. However, the weight did not come off. I had not had a leveling off weight increase from the time of my surgery so I started to wonder if this was going to be it. But, I then gained another 5 lb over the last yr. When I tried on my size 12 petite summer clothes this spring, I was devastated that only half of my clothes fit! Last summer they were loose.  I was NOT going to buy more clothes and definitely not a larger size. So, here I am getting back to basics. Many people told me I had lost too much weight and should gain a little. They pissed me off, but after gaining this 15 lbs. I can see what they meant. Especially in my face. It was gaunt looking in some pics. So, my goal is to lose somewhere in the area of 8 lbs. as long as my size 12 petite fits comfortably I will be very happy. Wish me luck. I am still hearing the sound in my ears though, some days it drives me up a wall.

Doing Well

Sep 15, 2011

It has been over 3 months now and I haven't gained a pound. I am wearing a medium petite top/12, and 10/12 petite slacks depending on brand. I started out hoping I would be able to wear a 14, now the 14's are too big. How do you spell s-u-c-c-e-s-s!
Hoping you are all well and keeping healthy. I am finally over the double surgery for gall bladder back in March, and had a wonderful summer.
I haven't been stopping in very often, but do think of all of you all of the time.

OMG

Jun 02, 2011

I can't believe that I am only 8 pounds from my goal! Hadn't weighed myself in 3 of weeks since it seemed that I had reached a stall. Even thought I might just stay at the weight I was at, Dr agreed. OK, so I said that's great now I have to work on staying here. Just got on the scale and I lost 5 more pounds!  Re-weighed  4 different times just to be sure. WOW

My WOW moment

May 20, 2011

My daughter took me to the Mystic Aquarium and we got to play with this 12 foot whale. This was my mother's day gift. She told me that she thought that I had had a very hard year loosing the 115 pounds and deserved something really special. I was so moved, after looking at the picture I was shocked that I didn't look that much bigger than my daughter. This is huge as I always thought of her as tiny! What a WOW moment

My 1st Surgiversary!

Apr 19, 2011

Tomorrow is my 1st surgiversary! It was a very good year up to the  beginning of Feb when I had a gall bladder attack. Surgery followed and then many complications from that. I am writing this tonight because tomorrow I will be at the hospital again having the last of the fluid removed from the sac around my right lung. After that I should be good.
Not going to complain though, that was the first problem I had all year. And have been very successful. Lost 114 pounds so far and if I stay at this level I will be very happy.
This year I want to start toning, I was to begin in Feb but the gall bladder and complications got in the way. So toning and building muscle is my next goal.
All in all it has been a very good year!

TIME TO GET MY ARSE MOVING

Feb 16, 2011

FINALLY DECIDED TO FORGET ABOUT THE ELLIPTICAL, WHAT DO I KNOW ABOUT EXERCISE AND WHAT IS BEST FOR ME WITH MY DISABILITES? NOT MUCH. SO YESTERDAY I WENT TO A LOCAL WOMANS GYM AND BOOKED AN APPT FOR AN HOUR OF EVALUATION WITH A PERSONAL TRAINER! I NEVER EXERCISED, DON'T LIKE TO EXERCISE AND IT IS VERY HARD PHYSICALLY FOR ME TO EXERCISE, BUT DAMN IT I AM GOING TO MAKE THIS NEW GOAL HAPPEN!

ONCE I KNOW WHERE I AM AND WHERE I SHOULD GO NEXT FROM THE GUIDANCE OF THE TRAINER I FEEL I WILL HAVE ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS. THEY ARE ONLY 1/2 MILE AWAY SO THERE ARE NO EXCUSES NOT TO GET THERE!

I WILL NEED ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT ON THIS ONE, CAUSE WHAT I'M DOING HERE IS TRYING TO CONVINCE MYSELF THAT I WILL SUCCEED IN THIS TOO.....

BPD forunner for DS

Feb 16, 2011

Due to certain health issues, my Dr gave me only one option to meet my personal needs. That was a BPD or Bilio Pancreatic Diversion, the original surgery that the DS was dirived from. As you can see  on the page of this attatchment it compares the differences between BPD/Roux n-y/DS. As far as what is removed and so on.
Take a look it's interesting. Please notice, that in 2004 there were only 40 Dr's performing the DS surgery.
