"He seems like a nice man, but a little blase, like he has done this so many times that he forgets that you may need or want more information. His staff and office are friendly and helpful, I don't ever feel like a pest or nuisance. Dr. Ali was good about checking in at the hospital and calling at home for a few days to see how you are doing.I found the consult with the dietician to be less than helpful, I think I knew more about what to eat, etc. , than she did. Dr. Ali does have a structured aftercare program, which he charges an additional $500 for, but this is cheap compared to some docs in the area who charge up to $6000 above and beyond insurance coverage. There are support group meetings in both Port Huron and Flint. He attends these meetings when he can. Other patients seem to have a very good opinion of him. He has been doing WLS for many years(20?) and I would rate his surgical competence as better than his bedside manner. He does seem to be a caring person, just not very talkative.
