I am 49, wife, mother of 2 adult children and grandmother to 1 grandson and 3 granddaughters. I have battled with being overweight all of my life, so I have been the fat child who was ridiculed all through school. I reciently have been having difficulty with keeping my blood pressure in an acceptable range as well as having my A1C at high normal. My BMI is about 43, I have lost and regained  several hundred pounds over my lifetime. In August of this year I had been to my primary care physician for my semi-anual check up (requirement for medication refills) and expected to talk about my depression and sesonal allergies. Just then my doctor came into the room, checked my electronic medical record and said "Do you know you qualify for bariatric surgery?" I was astounded at her boldness, yes I was overweight (in my mind) but this was not what I was expecting her to say. I immediately said that I was not interested. After leaving the office I became angry.....how could she say that to me. After a week or two I  began to research info on the web regarding bariatric surgery. The more I read and the more I learned I was seeing myself and the life that I have lived up to this point and the options that are available to help me live a normal life and get my health issues in line before they become major. I called the doctors office and scheduled an appointment to discuss the option of bariatric surgery. The appointment went well and the next day I had an appointment with  baraitric clinic for Oct 15th.
So hear I am awaiting my first consultation appointment which will be here before I know it and I have started my WLS journey.
