Well here I am and very disappointed, I have yet again been denied.  Basically my BMI is to low and they will not grant the surgery.  The surgery was basically for my kidney to lose weight, and take the fat out of the kidneys which is what is giving me the protein in my urine.  I have been on medicines for 2 years to try to fix the protein.  My kidney doctor thought this would be my best solution to my problem, he said I have some kind of metibolic syndrome which is effecting my kidney.  I just cant lose the weight on my own and when I do it just comes back.  My BMI is 39.1 and they refuse to see the medical condition involved here.  I called my doctors office, whom did not call me, I actually called them to ask why they did not call and they said they were not notified yet of the denial. (really???)    I went on to speak to the Doctor himself and told him that (his admin assistant) is very unprofessional, I had many words with her over the months that I had to deal with her.  She insisted to me each week that the surgery is next Friday everytime I called. And as far as her handling my paperwork, that was a joke.  My papers sat on someones desk for 1 month till I called to find out the status of the appeal.  WHAT A SURPRISE, to find out that it wasnt even touched.  The Admin ASSistant never followed up and I was doing all the leg work.  (IMAGINE THAT)  The doctor heard my mouth without the phone.  He wants to persue this further and I told him to do whatever he wanted to do, and call me when he finds anything out.  I will no longer stress out over this and I will move on to the next phase of my life.  I WILL LOSE WEIGHT ON MY OWN.  I am just going to have to put things in perspective and DO IT.  Wish me luck,  I totally wish my friends luck and SUCCESS in your goals.  I will check in to cheer you guys on, but as for me,  I will just keep the faith and move on.

Hi all, Its been a while since I was here.  It was very depressing for me after getting psyched to have the surgery and then to be brought down in 5 seconds with a phone call.      Well I have been in and out of the doctors office discussing how to approach the appeal. I now have 3 doctors notes advising that the lap band procedure should not be denied. So with that and more solid information from the doctors, hopefully it will be approved this time around.       I do not want put myself into that depression again.  I have not called to find anything out this time, I will just wait like nothing is going on and be surprised when the call comes in. (lets pray )   So to keep occupied, my husband and I have booked 2 vacations for the summer, one in July and one in Aug.  Something to look forward to.   

I am glad to see that my friends are doing great and I am very happy for all of you.  It takes hard work your success will show.  Stay strong ........!!!

I AM SO STEAMING UPSET, SAD, I CAN DESCRIBE THE EMOTIONS I AM GOING THROUGH.  THAT CALL I RECEIVED ON FRIDAY THAT I HAD TO WAIT ALL WEEKEND FOR WAS TO TELL ME I WAS DENIED.  I AM IN A HEAD SPIN, THE INSURANCE SAID (BY BMI IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH)  SO NOW I HAVE TO FIGHT IT.  THE ASSISTANT TOLD ME TO GAIN WEIGHT AND COME BACK.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME.  I JUST CANT BELIEVE SHE ACTUALLY SAID THAT,  THIS IS A DOCTOR ISSUE AT THIS POINT ABOUT HER AGAIN.  SHE HAS MIS INFORMED ME ONE MORE TIME.  I THINK ITS TIME TO DO SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER OFFICE.  IF THIS IS THE WAY SHE APPROCHES THE PATIENTS I AM SURPRISED THE DOC HAS BUSINESS.  THIS IS ONE FOR THE BOOKS.  WELL, AT THIS POINT WHAT CAN I SAY, I WILL HAVE TO PUSH THE ISSUE AND FIGHT BACK.  WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM THE DOC AND NUT.

May 1st.  Today my husband calles me at work at 3:45 and tells me that the insurance company called and left a message at home. Said it was not an emergency to call them back. So I called beginning at 4:00 till 5:00 and either away from her desk or on the phone.   So no return call "of course" and now I have to wait the weekend out. "in suspence". Lets just hope its good news.  I will wait patiently and prepare for the answer Monday.  BTW, they do have other numbers to get in touch with me. I guess its not an emergency.

April 29, 2009 .........  Well yesterday I received a call from the doctors office,  insurance needs more information,  "of couse they do"  they would take my first born if I had one.  This is an adventure in itself waiting for approval.  Oy Vey.  Well again all I can do is wait.  At least its getting closer to an answer.  Any day now    ha ha ha ha..  Until then, work, work, work.

Its April 27 and recevied a call today to get updated blood pressure and and other stuff.... I am getting so frustrated with all this crap.   I have to get this all done and get it submitted again to the insurance company.  Once again its the waiting game. Hopefully I will only have to wait about 2 weeks.  From having an April date to a cancellation now on to more anticipation for a May date schedule.  I really do not want to have this surgery on my birthday.    So all I can do is hope.  At this stage of the game I just want to have this done.  I will just keep posting until I find out my new date.  Its almost like every meal is my last meal.  My husband and I laugh at that all the time. He has been very supportive of me and patient with my craziness.

I am having the Lap Band.

I am new hear and looking forward to my surgery,  I am having a bit of a problem with the admin assistant in the Doctors office.  She did not return any of my phone calls (4). The next day I called again and spoke to the Doctor himself.  He was not pleased with her ways, needless to say.  He was very accommodating with my question. Now because the Admin gave me a tentive date of April 9, 2009, which is not working out because she did not return any of my phone calls and held up my paperwork.  So now possibly she will get notification before I will and I wont hear a word from her.  I will probably have to call again. She is just very rude and not a pleasant person to speak with. Now, of course, she has an attitude with me.   Once again, I will speak with the Doc about her.
