I got diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2000 after gaining nearly 40 lbs in one year and having multiple cysts on my ovaries.  Apparently being on the pill masks PCOS and once you go off the pill that's when your body goes haywire.  I was told that I couldn't have children unless I used heavy duty fertility drugs...I did end up having two children (both boys) due to being on Glucophage.  Since then I just keep gaining weight and it's mostly in my middle.  I'm 5' and weigh 190 lbs.  I've thrown out my back twice, have pain my my knees, back and joints and just generally feel like crap 98% of the time.  I previously thought I was getting the band since that's what my parents and my sister have but after hearing Dr. Spivak talk about the sleeve I knew it was for me.  I live in Austin but will be having my surgery in Houston at Park Plaza Hospital.  I'm also having my gallbladder removed at the same time.  I have a very supportive family but some of my extended family has actually told my husband "why doesn't she just go jogging".  PFFT!  If only it were that simple and of course one would have to have energy in order to do that.  I work full-time as an Admin for the police department and have two children to raise and a home, husband to take care of.  I can't wait to actually run and play with my children and feel like I have a life instead of being miserable all the time and in pain.

If anyone in the Austin area would like to chat, please feel free.
