Starting Point

I went to a seminar on May 5, 2008 with Dr Strickland in Columbia.  I was able to have my 1st consult the same day.  I was really impressed by him and want him to do my surgery.  I want to have lapband and I will be self pay.  My insurance has an exclusion to WLS.

A couple of days later, the hurdles started showing up.
I had to go to the ER and was told the pain was caused by Gastropareisis. (I had been diagnosed with a slight delay in gastric emptying 3 yrs ago.) Dr. Curry was kind enough to answer my questions about being banded with gastroparesis saying he would not recommend the band but would go with RNY.

I went to my gastro Dr and he did an Endo/Colonoscopy.
He found a polyp and did 4 biopsies.  He said he thought it be ok but to wait for the biopsy to come back.

I called the Gastro Dr and will have to wait to til 6/24/08 to get the full results on but he gave me the go ahead to pursue surgery.

I called the psych Dr and was able to get an appointment late Friday afternoon.  I could have gone  tomorrow but I already had plans.  I was expecting to have to wait weeks.

In my research on gastroparesis, I found some of the meds I was taking can cause it.   I asked for a longer gastric emptying test before I ruled out the Band.  I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out how long I will have to wait for that test.

Wow, I got the call about the gastric emptying test and it is scheduled tomorrow morning.  I will have to be in Greenville at 7:30 am  and in Columbia at 4 pm.

I seems to me as if God is giving me the go ahead for this by lowering the hurdles.
