OKay- I am making the leap and trying to get involved here. So here I go..
I am Becca. Age 41. 2 kids, one husband. I weigh 280 right now. I was approved a year ago approximately for the GBS in cleveland, Oh, but my insurance at the time was Medicaid and they denied me. I tried to appeal but due to a lousy person at clev clinic who was supposed to be helping.. I missed the time deadline for the appeal to be considered.
I have type 2 diabetes. I have a form of Muscular Dystrophy which makes me physically disabled. I can walk but it's difficult to do and more than that is a nightmare. I have thyroid & sleep apnea.
I have been struggling with my weight since I was 12.....keeping it down, not being heavy until I was raped at 21and it has never been under 200 since then. Dieted and exercised to my best many times over. Always an issue-- always a struggle. I feel at my wits end now. I am re doing my surgery stuff at cleveland right now, only a few things need repeated to submit to my new insurance- Anthem. I am positivethat the likelihood is good that I can get approved for surgery through the new insurance. Without the surgery-- I feel screwed. I have fought this so long that I feel there is no way I will ever achieve weight loss and health with out it.
My family( kids & hubby) are very supportive of the GBS. I am hoping to get it this summer.
