Two years later

Hi everyone, I just got an anniversary note from Eric Klein, founder of OH, and I am happy to report that I have lost over 140# and have been on maintenance for about a year now.  I weigh 135# today, and I allow that to fluctuate 5 or 10 pounds at times, but I still don't eat pasta, bread, potatoes, rice, or other starches.  I only eat ONE bite of dessert if I eat any.  I remember Dolly Pardon talking to Johnny Carson years ago about how she lost so much weight and she replied "I just eat one bite of everything!  After all, the second bite tastes the same as the first".  That works for me, especially when I am eating with a crowd, a party or gathering of some sort.  Others are watching me and I want to be a good example.  I am wearing size 8 pants now, used to be 3x or 26-28.  I do have some saggy skin, but I wear a firm control panty girdle (med), and I am not having a problem with the loose skin. I lost so much cushion off my butt that I have to take a cushion with me most of the time,   It is important to keep the area in the crease just below my tummy dry tho to prevent irritation or odor, but that's hasn't been a problem either.  My bra size has decreased from a 46DD to a 38C, and I gotta tell ya, I was disappointed at first, but I can see how much easier it is to eat and not have to lean over the table because my boobs kept me so far back that I spilled everything!  No so anymore!!

A couple of things are so much easier for me, like turning over in bed, bending down to pet my animals, pick something up or get down on the floor.  Today, I have no problem getting up without crawling to a wall to pull myself up before.  Also, I love that I can drive and I don't have to have my car seat back so far to keep the wheel from rubbing on my tummy.  Some things have changed that I would not have guessed tho....like my dentures were too big after losing weight and had to be replaced.  Even my feet are a half a size smaller.  I also had to have my rings re-sized.  But, these were not a worry, I was so glad to acknowledge my weight loss.  Oh, and I bought a smart car!  I fit!  I just love it.  No heavy duty SUV or lrg car for me anymore!  It's so fun.

I am faithful to my skin care these days, and I have no loose skin on my face or neck.  That is a blessing.

My Lap Band was Nov. 4th 2008, and I haven't had an adjustment since April this year.  I'm doing very well, and very please with the results.  I wish I would have documented the past 2 years with pics, but I am including a pic of me today.

Good luck to all of you, the results are so worth the sacrifice.  Stick with it, stay compliant and get rid of those "big" clothes as you lose so you don't have the thought that if you gain it all back you still have clothes to wear!  LOL*  I did get rib of mine, and I love slipping into my size 8 jeans and my 14-16 tops.  I'm broad across the shoulders, so I need the room, but a size med. or 12 fits altho tight.

The pic below was taken at my fellowship, I have 29+ years of sobriety.  My weight gain happened over the years after I had stopped drinking.  My son's suicide in 1996 gave me the sorry excuse of dealing with the pain by eating and not drinking.  I had had to apply the 12 steps to my eating the same as to my drinking, but food is so accessible, more accepted than drinking, and the weight gain was so slow, like only 20-30# a year.
