A bit about me

Sep 02, 2008

I'm 38. Married to a wonderful woman, and a father to 3 handsom boys.

I'm a computer geek by trade and hobby. But I do love outdoor activity such as swimming and baseball.

All through my life I always struggled with my weight. In High School I was initially very tall. I shot up to 6' tall by my 14th birthday but then I just stopped growing but kept eating. By 16 I was over 260 lbs.

At 17 I went on a very drastic diet and dropped over 80lbs in 3 months. I was able to keep this weight off for about 2 years but college done me in :P too much late night pizza!

I regained all my weight back and then some! now over 285lbs I went on a more proper diet and dropped  70lbs over the space of 6 months and went to the gym every day. This was at the age of 24. I was in a size 33 and looking and feeling good. I met the love of my life and we were married within a year.

Once married i started putting on the weight again. Slowly at first but continually. Before I knew it I was right back where I was before. I tried many diets again, but failed. Yoyoing Yoyoing... I started looking at WLS about 4 years ago and saw the lap band as a possibility for me, but insurance at that time considered it experimental. The other surgeries seemed way to risky for me compared to the lap band.

So I decided to wait out for the lap band to be approved by my carrier. Even after it was I still was slow to the plate for the surgery. This was my first time under the knife.

Now I feel I have my tool to keep this weight off for ever! And OH to support me when ever I decide to get off track.
