Wow...its been a year since I last posted.  I have lost 190 pounds since surgery.  The last year has been total hell.  I got really sick last december and was hospitalized from January 9th until September 20th of this year. I was diagnosed with polyneuropathy.  I lost the ability to walk .  My entire body was in pain.  I went a week with blindness and hearing loss.  The neuropathy caused numbness and tingling from my neck down.

Now I am getting better.  I am able to walk with a walker but I still have the numb/tingling feeling in my arms and legs.  Its the constant feeling of like when your foot falls asleep but it never goes away.  The dr's dont know if I will get full sensation back.

Another 10 pounds gone.

I am 2 weeks and 4 days post op and 38 pounds down.  

I had some complications after my surgery.  The surgery its self was great but I was in ICU for a few days.  I was not able to breathe on my own and close to respitory failure.  I spent 8 days in the hospital beeing slowly taken off oxygen.

Besides that, I am having an issue with my incision.  About a week and a half out, my incision started leaking...which is normal.  I went to my 2 week visit and they opened up the bottom to allow all of the goo to release.  I have to clean it 2 times a day which is VERY hard for me!  I can barely stand the sight of blood and having to clean this is just yukky.

I have had no problems tolerating foods.  I am sick of jello!!!  I was not crazy about scrambled eggs tho.

Oh my...only 24 hours to go until surgery!  I am nervous and excited.  I still have the thought in the back of my mind that something will happen to stop in.  I am so ready!

1 day from hospital pre-op and only 4 full days until surgery....again.

I am starting to feel really anxious and or nervous that I will be cancelled...again.  I am right where I was at when I hit the last bump in the road.  I hope all goes well and there is nothing wrong.  I had the flu and thats gone now so I dont know what else could happen to get in the way of my surgery date.

Yesterday was my Pre-op appointment with the surgeon....again.  Same as last time except I got to meet with Brian who is one of the P.A's.  He was very nice.  I have the stomach flu so they are concerned that I get all better before surgery.  Next appointment is on the 14th for the hospital pre-op.  EKG, chest x-ray, and blood work...then surgery on the 17th!

STILL WAITING.......................

However, I received my pre-op letter today.  I have my pre-op appointment with the surgeon....again on Tuesday, September 4th @ 11:00 am and then my hospital pre-op on Friday, September 14th @ 11:00 am. Surgery is scheduled for September 17th @ 2:30 pm.....

It's time again to start the nasty shake and weight watcher meal diet!

I had my appointment yesterday with Dr. Halloway.  They did another EKG and a EKO.  Everything is fine.  I have no heart problems and the Dr cleared me for surgery.  He said what the machine is reading as "abnormal" is caused by my weight.  I called Dr. Upadhyay's office and spoke to DeAngela today and she confirmed that I am scheduled for surgery on Septmeber 17th!  More waiting!!!!  But at least I know Im ok.

Alrighty....I went to my pcp and they did another ekg that was also borderline abnormal.  They then referred me to the Cardio specialist in Stockton who was the biggest ASSHOLE I have ever met!!!!!  He came in the door and asked me where my prescriptions for my blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol were?  Ummmm, I dont take any meds!  To make a long story short, the Dr called me fat several times, and told me that his office was not capable of dealing with someone of my "mass."  He wanted to refer me to San Fran to a clinic that deal with me because his machines are not able to deal with someone of my "capasity."  I was so mad, I have never been treated with such disrespect!  I left the office, got home and just cried!  I called Colleen at Dr. Upahdyay's office and they referred me to the cardio specialist they use.  They are going to take images of my heart.  They said that what the machine says is abnormal, may be normal for me.  I have my appointment o the 8th at 2:30.  If all goes well and Im cleared, my surgery will be on September 17.

  UGH

Today was my pre-op appointment at the hospital.  They did blood work, chest x rays and EKG.  When I got home from Oakland, I got a call from the Dr.'s office saying that my surgery is cancelled because of "abnormalities" on my EKG????????  So I freaked out for a few minutes over the word "cancelled."  I calmed down and called the office back to find out what the "abnormality" was.  They wern't sure but Coleen was so helpful in finding out something.  I guess the machine gives a reading a the end and it said "abnormal."  Dr. Upadhyay saw that and wants me to follow up and be cleared by a cardio specialist.  So until then....surgery is cancelled. I guess its better to find any problems now than later.

I will update tomorrow when I find out more.
