It's getting close to the time of my new beginning. I am grateful that my hubby and I had already planned over a year and a half ago to be in Mexico this next week, starting on Sunday. We will be in a rented house 50 feet from the Gulf of California, on the furthest beach out from Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico. This is our third trip there and I can't think of any better way to "Zen" out, meditate, go within and gather strength and courage for the battle to come. I fear not for the pain, for I have that now in my back and knees. I fear not for the hard work afterwards and the changes in my diet. I DO have some trepidation for the issue of my needing a CPAP and pressurized oxygen whenever I sleep. I will not only make sure it's written in my record, but my mother (a retired registered pharmacist) will raise hell and high water to make sure my care is the best, but I also intend to write "CPAP" and 2 L of O2 on my forehead with lip liner pencil! I also have the cutest Hallowwn cat earrings that I want my mom to hand me to put on as soon as I'm anywhere near conscious. I want to make a statement from the very beginning. I have faith that I'm where I'm supposed to be. I am content that my hubby and I will have one whole week away from others before the surgery to ourselves. I have found a real home here with ya'll. I'm someone in an alternative lifestyle but you probably wouldn't know it to look at me. In my house, I am the boss and a darned stern one at that. My husband is in charge all day as a Charge Nurse and loves to submit to little ol' me when he comes home. The vast majority of you probably don't think you know one of those "whips-n-chains" kinda women, but you DO! I'm mentioning this to show you that all kinds of individuals across the great "lake of humanity" find themselves in a situation where, for the briefest of hours, they will lose control and have to have faith - faith that this is the right thing to do, faith that the medical personnel are ready and trained correctly, faith that all will go as it should and faith that I can face that anesthesia mask with no tears. I have found a group of wonderful people here that truly love each other, even if we will never meet. I thought that was only possible when individuals share a lifestyle.......but then.........any of you who are reading this, DO share a certain lifestyle with me. You may not have whips on your door, you may not have an antique Mexican hanging cage in your garage, you may not have a man that worships you and treats you like the Goddess you are, but you do share this: we have been persecuted because we are perceived to be lazy slobs, we have been looked over like we were "invisible people" by those uncaring to see the real us, we have suffered horrible name calling and teasing, and we have even suffered discrimination in work, in love, and in life. No MORE!! I have my home, my beloved husband, and now I will have amazing better health!! Blessings to you all and I appreciate your loving, warm fuzzy thoughts in this upcoming time of "war". Cindy
