Well, I made it. My journey started in October of 2006, I attended a informational meeting in High Point NC for the Mini Gastric Bypass. It all sounded good, so I went to have the psychological evaluation and the Doc ask me if I had attended any other info meetings with other programs. That was a good question. So he sugested checking out programs that are "Centers of Excellence." So to Pinehurst NC I headed in December of 2006, to hear what Dr. Mitchell had to say. I must say from the moment I walked into the door I knew this was the place that I was going to come to for my surgery. They had it all together! Dr. Mitchell runs a top of the line program, and his record shows it! So I sent my packet in on January 2,2007 and patiently waited for the call from the wonderful Carmin. Luckily I have been a member of TOPS for the last 5 years so I had all those records of weight and already had my letter from my family Dr. But my thyroid test came back abnormal, and I had to start taking synthroid. It took 6 months to get my thyroid to the normal range, meanwhile I had all my appointments out of the way. My surgery was first scheduled for August 30, then moved up to Aug 13. I never was worried of scared, I knew God's will would be done, and my sweet husband would take good care of me. I remember waking up in the hospital room in sooooo much pain, thinking "oh lord what have I done!" But the second day was better, and every day since had been better.
