Here goes.  As a teenager, I was quite slender and very active.  I had my first child at 18 and that's when my weight issues start.  I had put on a lot of weight during the pregnancy and it took me a long time to get it off.  Then four years later I had my second child.  Same story as the first except a few more pounds and a lot longer to get it off.  I was very unhappy in my marriage and my ex-husband didn't help matters at all.  So after 15 years of trying to work things out, I left with my children and started over.  Now for the umpteeth time, I was on yet another diet and managed to get the weight off once again.

I had a little scare about six months later.  I found a lump in my breast, but luckily for me it was just a cyst.  Then I met my current husband.  He is my polar opposite and I think that is the reason we get along so well.  Mind you we do have to work at things.. boy my mom never told me that marriage was soo hard.  About a year later I found out that my teenaged daughter was pregnant.  Talk about a roller coaster of emotions.  I did support my daughter and helped out in any way I could.  I even quit smoking (my final downfall) to provide a healthy environment for the new baby.  That was 12 years ago, my daughter and granddaughter have finally left the nest, and now it's my turn to get healthy.

I had been thinking about this surgery for a long time, but I have hypothyroidism and knew that I would have to get this under control first.  Now that it is, I am more than ready to move forward.  I've submitted my papers to OHIP, got my approval, and have my consult appointment with Dr. Graber in August....
