I am a 36 year old woman with 2 kids and an incredible husband. I have been "morbidly obese" since I was about 20 years old. I use quotations around that because I didn't FEEL morbidly obese until after I had kids. I still was pretty active and my doctor told me that I was the healthiest fat woman he had ever seen in his entire career(he was about 60!)

I have started the process of Lapband surgery. My insurance requires 6 monthly visits with a nutritionist/dietitian. So it will be a while. I was referred last year in August and was never contacted by the doctor. Referred again in October and called the dr's office to get an appointment set up for a while, still nothing. Was referred again this past Monday and am suddenly on the fast track! I guess it comes to you when you are really ready to handle it right?

I have my first consult appointment and nutritionist appointments today. I am excited but a bit nervous(and sick to my stomach) about the whole thing. My mother in law had gastric bypass surgery 5 years ago and had a leak, got an infection and almost died. So I'm VERY nervous about this whole thing. My husband was completely against me having ANY kind of surgery(because of what happened to his mother) but seems to be coming around the more I talk to him about the lapband. He is truly hoping that I will go through the nutrition part of it and start losing weight and decide that I don't need the surgery but at least he's being supportive.
