My Introduction and so on...

I'm a 29 yr old female soon to be 30yr this month june 17th. I have always been heavy or overwt since i was child. Looking for change want a change and need a change and nothing has worked as of yet. I've had a consultation with Dr. Snow of Mobile,AL but i'm still not sure if this is the way to go Gastric bypass i mean or even if he is the right surgeon.
I know each person is different and each case is different. Anyone with advice or what they did or how they came to a conclusion of what was best for them please write.
Or any information on your surgeon would be highly appreciated.

I've totally decided to have this done the pain and discomfort is too much. I'm 30yrs old feel like i haven't lived or experienced life yet. Never doing what i want when want b/c i can't or don't have the energy too or just don't want to be seen altogether. I'm ready for a break! My big break! I know it will be alot of work and this surgery is a tool and i'm ready to use it ! So ready to live be free and healthy and happy!!!! People don't know b/c they aren't in your body they expect so much or maybe it isn't much at all but to me in the body that i'm in now this prison that i've been in well u just don't know all of the effects of the wt unless you're in the same situation. The smallest things in life becomes an issue that other people take for granted. Enough of that...
So today i finished my 6month visit with my Family Practice MD with my insurance u have to be under there care and some type of wt loss plan for 6months prior to applying for surgery, actually i did about 8-9months just be sure at this point i would be devastated if i was turned down. Well i'm having my Family practice MD send my medical records to Dr. Snow in Mobile. Dr.Paulk really worked with me he seen the need for me to have this surgery he was great for the whole 9months i seen him encouraging and helpful each time i went. It's great to have a general MD who's behind u.

Well today i heard from Dr. Snows office and they had received all of my records but needed some more from further back going to have those sent off in the morning. Then hopefully i can get approved. Crossing my fingers!

Today i went to my first support group meeting in Dothan Alabama at Southeast Alabama Medical Center with my mom(who had the surgery in may) and my cousin(who had the surgery a couple of yrs ago), we were a lil late we thought it started at 6:30pm and it starts at 6pm. But it was a great experience and everyone was so friendly and made u feel so welcome. And it was great to see people in different stages of the surgery.

I GOT APPROVED!!!!!!
So excited and scared all at the same time. Never quite felt this way before. I have a wonderful support system my mom and family have been great. Now i just have to get enough time off from work to have the surgery done!

Hello all back again! Dr. Snow's office called me today and i set up my appointment for the Begins Class ---> where you take a written test i believe it's multiple choice, see Dr. Snow again, see the dietician,physical therapist etc it's a all day thing. So i'll be going there this friday july 27th. Oh and we also set up the big day on this day as well. I'm shooting for the end of Aug. gives me a lil time to build up some more sick time at work and get other things ready.

Well today is the day of the begins class at Dr. Snow's office and the date that i get my surgery date!
I'm a lil nervous and excited. I'm hoping i can get the date that i want. Well I'll be back to let u know the date. Keep me in your prayers!

Hello all, I haven't been on but to give u a update after my trip to Mobile to see Dr. Snow b/c I became sick terrible sinus infection, was sick all weekend, went to a few doctors, got some antibiotics, CT scan of the head and even seen the eye doctor all the time i've been going to my medical doctor for wt loss supervision for 9monts and never was ill oh well, i'm feeling so much better today the pain is decreasing and i'm returning to work tonight. They've been great with working with me Thank God for em.
Anyway, I finally got my surgery date !!!!! Aug 27th,2007. I'd really love to have a Angel, i left my cell phone number that will be how u can contact me or find out how i'm doing through my mom. She's not real computer savy so i'll need a Angel to post for me. :-)
I'm so excited. The only thing i have left to do is pre op studies or test that my family Dr. Paulk will do and fax to Dr. Snow. EKG, Chest Xray,CBC,PT,INR,HCG,CMP, and Upper Abd. ultrasound. I would've done it this week but with this sinus infection i don't want any odd readings on my lab work before surgery so i'll wait to my antibiotics are finished next week sometime.
