Well- as most people know by now, I'm getting married on August 21st- and well, even though I haven't really thought much about it, Johanna has decided that she does want a wedding dress. So last night, we went and tried on some wedding gowns.
Now let me start this by saying, I've worn a size 32 for a very long time. Probably the last 5 years or so, I've worn this plus size that is usually the largest size in the big girl store, and there were times that even these fit a little too snuggly. I haven't bought many new clothes since my surgery, but most of my friends all know that my clothes are practically hanging off me at times-
Anyway- I knew that the largest size on the wedding store racks was 26- I knew this because when I thought about marrying Johanna 6 years ago, I remember thinking that I might not be able to try on wedding dresses- because they'd have to specially order mine- So last night, I went in hoping and praying that I could at least just try on a 26- and hoping that it would at least fit over me, even if it didn't zip all the way.
Well- to my shock I didn't wear a 26- nope- I wore a 24!! the 26 was too big!! Can you freakin' believe it???? The dress that I chose in the 26, they had to go and try and find in the 24- and luckily it was there. I swear I felt like a little princess!

Not even sure what week I'm on???

Okay-
So time is flying and I'm actually to a point where I'm loving it more and more! I can see some changes- definitely in my face and my clothes fitting better. And other things are getting better too- for instance, Johanna says she can't hear me breathing so hard anymore once I come from the bathroom. I didn't realize I breathed so hard before, but I guess it's possible. I mean- losing 50+ lbs definitely has to have some sort of impact on myself not being so exhausted ya know?
This next monday I'll be returning to work full time again, I had been working 4 hours at the office and 4 hours at home- but feel like I'm ready to do a full 8 hours now!
Today I ate some chicken and beans- and it seemed to sit okay with me, so I'm moving onto the soft stage of food. Seein' what I can eat. I really want an enchilada- but i'm scared that might be a little too much grease at this stage, and that terrifies me!
Anyway- all is well and I'm moving along!

Been a week or so since I posted! Jeesh.
Well I attended my first support group last Monday, Feb 26 and I was really glad I did. I got a little discouraged because some of the people were talking about how their doctor doesn't want them to drink and protein drinks and so I was like.. "man... why's my doctor making me drink those???" It's hard to remember we choose our doctors and I knew mine was extra strict.
I seem to be doing okay- trying to eat what I'm suppose to- but I'm really tired of beans and cheese now! I am still trying eggs again- but really want a chorizo and egg taco! jeesh I need help! But tonight I made chicken sauteed with mushrooms- and Johanna pureed it. Looked AWFUL but tasted pretty good. I was able to eat a little over an ounce!
Tonight we watched the Devil wears Prada and it was cute. Really enjoyed it much more than I thought I was going to. Johanna popped some popcorn and I hate a cup- and it wasn't bad and didn't seem to upset my stomach, so that's really good!
Still am pretty week, looking forward to getting my energy level up- I keep reading it will come around week 6- so I'm trying to be patient!

What a day!
Feb 21, 2007
What a day!
First off it was my anniversary with Johanna- she bought me the coolest journals and picture frame. I am so lucky! Next was Sully's birthday! She turned 28. or something like that!
And today was my first day back to work! OMG- it was great seeing everyone, but I can't believe how tired I was walking from the parking garage to the building! I was wiped out by the time I got to my desk! I then did some work- I felt like such a super star because everyone kept coming into my office to see me- again, I'm lucky!
They had decorated my office so it was so cool and inviting for me to come back to work! I loved it. I only wanted to work 4 hours, but I stayed for 5- and I was wiped out. I mean wiped out! I got home about 2PM and ate something small and immediately went to bed- I was knocked out! I slept for almost 4 hours-
then we went to an HOA meeting and Johanna got elected to the board! wahoo! She's so fabulous! Anyway- all for today- we'll see if I go in tomorrow if I just work from home-

2 weeks plus!
Feb 20, 2007
Okay, so I had surgery 15 days ago, a little over 2 weeks. I'm now eating pureed stuff and I'm so excited.
So far I have eaten:
refried beans & cheese (heaven!)
mash potato (not good, didn't sit well and hurt)
egg (scrambled- hurt, didn't sit well- think I ate too fast)
tuna salad (with crackers- not too bad at all)
peanut butter (with crackers)
I FREAKIN' love RITZ!
Anyway- tonight a friend of mine has made me some chicken- she's gonna bring by and I can puree that and eat it! I can't wait! I'm sooo excited.
I feel pretty good- little tired, but it's to be expected. Still not drinking all my protein- get in about 60 grams a day, need to be getting in 75- but those powder drinks just taste AWFUL!
Anyway, moving right along! I go back to work tomorrow for 1/2 a day and will probably do that for a week or 2 before I go back full time.
more pics to come!

Went out on a Date!
Feb 17, 2007
onight was the first time I went out and played. Johanna took me to the movies with our friends, Carrie and Jason. She dropped me off at the ticket counter so I could buy our tickets and she parked. I had showered before the movie (go me) and it really tired me out- Anyway, waiting for her was tiring - I had to lean up against the pole, but I think it's because I'm just eating so little really.
My doctor's office had told me to stay on a liquid diet the first 2 weeks after surgery- and then around week 3 I could introduce pureed foods. I didn't really feel confident in the dietitian's directions and so when I went back the 2nd time, I questioned them again- well wouldn't you know, the dietitian was replaced, and well, I didn't feel that much more confident in the new chick either! They just keep telling me to read the packet.
I've read the damn packet so much I could rewrite the packet! Jeesh. but today- day 12- I decided was the day I would try some pureed foods! I'm such a rebel!
This morning I made oatmeal and pureed it- it was about 1/4 of a cup- cooked. And it didn't upset my stomach or anything- that made me sooo freakin' happy to have some actual food in my pouch!
Then in the afternoon- Johanna made me refried beans- pureed with cheese- about 2 oz- I was freakin' flippin I was so excited! I felt so great after eating it. I felt nice and content- didn't over do it- and just felt good.
Then this evening I had some tomato soup- light little dinner :)
I've only drank about 40 oz of water today- need to step it up. I need to get in a good 64- but jeesh- seriously- it takes me damn near an hour to finish 4 oz. All in due time.
anyway- everything feels good and I'm happy- just wanted to give ya an update!
