I just realized that today is the anniversary of my Surgery!  Wow, this really went by fast!  I'm happy to report that I have officially lost 115 lbs.  I have had people do double takes when walking by.  This is folks that I know, but may have not seen in a few months.  It's awesome!  I feel better than I have in years. 

One year ago, I was so nervous about having this surgery and wondering if I was making the right decision.  I now know it was absolutely the best thing to do, and why didn't I do it sooner!    Life is so good, and I feel like I'm really living now. 

It's been a while since I've posted, so I thought I would give you all an update:

I went to see my doctor this week, and he was so pleased.  He said that everything was going picture perfect, and I could expect to lose another 50lbs in the next year.  He really boosted my spirits.  I have a habit of comparing myself to others.  I need to learn to just celebrate my accomplishments, and not worry about what others have done.

Awesome news!  All of my labs were on the lower end of the normal range.  My cholesterol went from 201 to 128.  That's amazing! 

Another note, we are going to Vegas next weekend.  It's for my brother-in-law's 40th.  There will be many people from out of state that haven't seen me in the last 6 months.  Normally, I would dread going.  I would get exhausted just trying to find something to cute to wear, and I would worry about what they thought about my weight.  I guess I was very insecure.  Well, those days are over!  I can't wait to go!  They are all going to be blown away!

Today I went to hit the after Christmas sales.  My most needed item is pants.  I usually jump on over to the women's section, but I decided to stop at the misses.  I wanted  to see if something might possibly fit.  I found so many things!  It was wonderful!  It's a big accomplishment because as we all know, the women's section is so limited.  So I'm sitting here in my new size 16 jeans.  I'm still so thankful for this opportunity that has been given to me!

I've finally reached my first personal goal.  I know have a bmi of less than 40!  39.7 to be exact!  This has been the best desicion I've made for me.  I'm so excited and so encouraged to keep going!

The hospital and staff were great!  The nurses were extremely caring and really seemed to enjoy their jobs, which makes it so nice. I was up that night walking around and things were moving along great.  The next morning, the problem with the gas pain hit me, terrible chest pain.  The nurses and the doctor said that was to be expected and that I was still doing great.  By that night I was feeling much better, just as they had said.

Lately, I've been tired more than anything.  I guess it's to be expected.  I have my follow- up appt with Dr. Suh on Thursday.  I'm looking forward to it.  I'm still happy with my desicion so far. 

Today I had my final appt with the the doctor and then met with the pre-op nurse at the hospital.  I am officially registered to have my surgery on the 21st.  Last night I woke up at 1:45AM and couldn't go back to sleep.  I couldn't stop thinking about it.  I'm not sure if it's nerves or excitment. 

Can't wait to be on the other side!

I found out today that my insurance authorization was approved.  I'm just waiting for a surgery date now.  I know that it's several weeks out because the nurse said that the Dr. will be taking some time off.  What?  Does he really need time off now??? :-)  I'm just happy that I'll be getting a date soon.  I've finally told everyone at my work and so far everyone seems very supportive. 

My pre-op tests were done at my MD's office.  All were sent to Dr. Suh's office.  He cleared me for insurance authorization now.  I'm just waiting for this part.  I guess it could take a couple of weeks.  I hope not. After a year of meeting all these requirements, I'm very anxious to get this all going!  :-)  Hopefully, I will have a surgery date soon!

Tomorrow I will do my pre-op and then it's just a waiting game for the insurance to authorize.  It's one step closer to having the surgery.  I'm very excited, but also nervous at the same time.  I guess that's normal right?
