Finally

Jun 15, 2009

Well everything has been going great. I have been meaning to give an update but it been so crazy.  Well i have found a new surgeon who i really like Dr. G. I had my consult last month which turned out to be really great. The staff has been wonderful and especially Paula there who i will give four stars. I have never met a lady who was willing to go above and beyond her job for someone she never knew. There program is great and my only issue is that they require you to lose weight prior to weight loss surgery. I have to lose between 20-25lbs from 327 which I'm bending over backwards to lose right now. I doing very well and have lost around 12lbs. I still have about 30 days and i want to get under 300. I still have a liquid diet to do so I'm hoping that will push me right where i wanna be. On June1st I had my EGD which went really well not internal issues and the DOC said everything was normal.  Surgery is June 20th and I can not wait to start my journey and finally after a long process I will finally be on the looser bench so make room.

Quick update for my OH family

Apr 24, 2009

All my nutritionist class visits went well and I learned a lot of information. She was a great nut and I didn’t have any problems with her at all and she was also really familiar with the DS. On the other hand the one on one with the other nut in that department was horrible. She had no input what so every about the DS and nutrition requirements just the bare minimal.

Then disaster struck and it was brought to my attention that my surgeon was not doing the DS in one stage but I turned out he was now doing it in two stages. Let me tell you I FREAKED out and was a mess for about a week. I called the program mangers and other office staff to get an answer to who what when and why. I finally got a hold of the program manager who stated that new patient receiving a consult will have the DS in two stages and patient who have already been scheduled or have had a consult were fine unless there was and issue during surgery etc. Let me tell you this was a big relief for me. But when it was heard directly from Dr. Schweitzer at JH not doing the DS in one stage no mater what will let’s just say the river of tears began to fall. I’m so f@&king pissed that he did this and I have come so far. So now I’m on the hunt for a new surgeon and let me tell you its really hard.

As of April 4th I have completed my three month disciplinary program that Aetna requires and boy has it been a very long journey for me.  Right now I just hope that the incompetent staff gets everything over to the insurance company for approval today based on what I was told. The crazy thing is that I sent everything over last Monday and has to constantly hound everyone in the office to confirm everything was good to go. Well after call after call it should be done today but will not hold my breath. I just can’t believe how far I have came and have struggled to get this far. So keep your fingers crossed because I have mine plus my toes. I just can’t wait to be on the losers bench so make so room because I’m going to sliding right in.

Surgeon Consult

Feb 11, 2009

Well I had my consult with my surgeon on 2/9 and it went very well. I first met with the program manager who was really nice and mostly wanted to know how much you know about the surgery you selected. Well of course i done my research and she know i know my stuff and was ready for whatever questions she was going to ask me. After the first question she felt that i knew everything and was impressed. Next was the surgeon and he was a  nice guy  he look very exhausted and at one point and time i think he would have passed out if i was not taking so much. So basically i asked my questions and listen to what he had to say. I think that he is a great surgeon and his resume if it could talk would tell you the same. Last was the financial coordinator who was a trip. She seems cool and was impressed that i had most of my records, started my diet history etc( I thought many came prepared but who knows). So the DS is what i plan on having and now i just needed to finished the diet history.

Quick update

Feb 11, 2009

I been behind with the updates and i such a horrible blogger at time. I know that it would be beneficial to keep my profile updated so i will be able to see how far i had came. First my insurance from my job has changed from kaiser to aetna which is great because kaiser only covers gastric bypass and after doing alot of research i changed my mind and wanted the ds. So i have to start all over with the diet history required by insurance. I dont mind as long as i get to have the DS and not what the insurance company wants me to have. So in Jan i met with my new PCP who is great and went over the surgery. She has had patient that mostly went with the gastric bypass but is thrilled that i did my research and is happy i will be her first patient with
the DS. So the first visit was great and i have a few more monthly visits. I plan on having my surgery in july if all goes well. I really want to have it earlier but a lady at my job is pregnant and they cant have two people out at the same time. But its cool more time to prepare.

Been Awhile

Aug 09, 2008

Well i know its been awhile i have just went  back to school so i have not had alot of time to work with. Well let me get everyone back to speed with whats been going on. I was doing really good with eating and a work out routine. But that fell off track due to my asthma actin a damn fool. So i had to change my asthma meds of course now it was going to make losing weight a whole lot heavier. I was at 295 and my required weight for my paperwork to be submitted was 292. But i gained it all back so now im back where i started. Luckily the dietician was supportive and told me that she would still send my paper work to the board if i lost some weight and would advise them that i have been working out and submit my work out schedule. I been doing really good going to the gym four days a week for an hour and damn near killing myself with cardio. But i want this surgery so bad it the only way i stay motivated. So i have my next appt on Sept 4 so wish me luck. Oh almost forgot i will try and add someone pics to my profile when i can. Well tell next time...

Im Back

May 21, 2008

I know it has been a while since i have updated my profile i have just been really busy at work. Well i will fill you in on what has happen so far. My first appoint i had with the nutritionist went well. The second appointment was consided a class where we went over pros and cons about surgery in april. The third vist was with a one on one consult about progress. I have been exercising but i need to get motivated to do more. I have cut alot of fast food and fried food out of my diet. So i started at 302 on the vist and the third i was at 297(Kaiser only requires to lose 3% of your body weight). Now to qualify i has do make it down to 292. So im happy that its close goal for me. I think the only problem will be keeping the weight off is that  im a snacker when it comes to junk food .  Well i have on concern which is not having any major health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure etc. I only have asthma, moderate sleep apnea, oxygen deprivation, pain in knees, ankles, back and neck. I guess looking at it says enough.  Oh i almost forgot i did have a sleep test done. I had a hard time falling alseep but the result s came back and  i needed to have CPAP machine. I just cant wait to be on the other side on the losers bench. Well i have to run sorry i missed spelled anything.

Weight Class

Feb 25, 2008

I have appointment set for March 5 to see the nutritionist. I'm excited and to be one step closer to the other side. In the mean time I decided to attend a weight loss class  before i see the nutritionist.  She was a very nice women and very slim i would say she is a size 6(which they all seem to be).  The class was pretty long but had a lot of good information. I was suprised to see how fast calories can add up each time you eat a meal. Until then im going wait to see what the nutritionist has to say offer. I hope she is supportive as my primary doctor. Well good night.
