Wow, tomorrow is my surgery day. This all actually happened pretty quick for me. I had considered gastric a few years ago, but was honestly petrified. So one day in September I was watching TV and saw a commercial on lapband. I stored the 800# in my cell phone and called them that monday when I got to work. They referred me to Dr Simpson. If my dates are correct I went to the seminar on September 23rd. I had a complete physical in August so on September 26 I was able to pick up a letter of referral with five years medical history from my primary care doctor. Had my physic eval on September 28 and received my complete results on October 3. Had my consult with Dr. Simpson on October 6 and was able to turn in everything required for them to start my insurance approval. My paperwork was submitted the following week. It took United Health Care the 30 days to give me my approval in writting and here I am facing my surgery tomorrow. I must say in reading others profiles and trials and tribulations, I have truly been blessed. Dr Simpson and his staff have been very tentative, caring and helpful, I have never felt i was a bother on days i called repeatedly. I have been to two of his seminars and one support group and have met some wonderful people. They have all made me feel really good about my decision. I am sooo looking forward to my new year. I will be going into surgery at a weight of 291. I will keep you all posted on my progress.

Well I came home yesterday after having my first meal of jello and broth. After a couple spoon of each I was full. The surgery went very well. Fortunately I didn't experience the pain people talked about from the gas and I only got sick to my stomach once and I think it was from the anestesia (sp), the first time I got up to walk and use the restroom all the water I had sipped on came back up. But since I have been fine, only took two pain pills and now managing on my own. Home resting and taking in my fluids right now.

Today is one week.  Overall I feel really good.  I started having soft foods.  For breakfast I had a boiled egg and was full, for lunch I had less than two table spoons of tuna and four crackers and for dinner I had some baked fish, mash potatoes and green beans.  I fixed a small saucer and was not able to finish it.  As of today I am down 8 lbs.  *smile* and returning to work on Thursday.  I have been very careful what I eat, don't want to get sick, but so far so good.
