Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!!

Nov 29, 2010

Well tomorrow is the big day! I am getting a tad nervous, not to bad though. I am leaving my home today around 5:30 to go to a hotel closer to my hospital; I have a check in time of 6:00 A.M. so we need to leave the day before. They said my surgery would start about 8:00 A.M.; I have to do some paperwork and get me ready for the actual surgery. When I had my pre-op test the ultrasound tech said that odds are my gallbladder is going to be removed as well, guess that didn’t look so hot. My surgery will be done at the University of Iowa City Hospital and Clinics. Anyway, sending out prayer and love for everyone! I am off to try to get the house in order and trying not to forget anything…lol.. Take Care!

The waiting game...

Oct 21, 2010

So, I went to the Doctors last month and they said they would send in my paper work to see if my insurance would approve my Roux-en-Y surgery.

The last appointment was sort of bitter sweet, I was going on my 7th month of keeping track of my diary and I was doing well with the dieting and exercising then BAM! I messed up royally! I gained 5 pounds! I was not surprised to tell you the truth, my family and I were invited to so many functions (about 6 or 7) in the month prior that I over ate and regret every bit of it. Normally we don’t go out to even one function let alone that many in about a 5 week span! Needless to say they were NOT happy with me and you know what neither was I!

Anyway, they decided to send in my paper work and told me how to handle functions better, by eating before or taking my own food or even requesting a different type of food. I believe they knew I was even upset with myself, anyway they also did some blood work and now it’s a waiting game for my insurance to HOPEFULLY approve me for my surgery! With my surgery I will have the tool that will assist me with my weight loss and keep it off for good! So that is where I am on my journey…

WANTED: GOOD VIBES!!! RETURNING THEM AS WELL!!!

WHAT TO DO???

Apr 08, 2009

I have been seeing my doctor now for about 7 or 8 months now. I have been trying several methods of weight loss with no prevail. I just can't seem to loose any weight, right now my BMI is 42! If I do I gain it right back. I have Fibromyalgia and high blood pressure and the extra weight is taking a toll on me. My doctor told me I needed to try to loose weight for 6 months before she could refer me to a surgeon. Well it has been 7 or 8 months now and she still wont refer me. I left her office today in tears! It is embarrassing to go there week after week and not have lost any weight when I am trying my hardest! I really feel like she don't want to help me. I have no clue what to do! I emailed The University Of Iowa City Hospital and Clinics right when I got home, I am so frustrated! My Husband is totally supportive as long as I want to go threw with the surgery. I know he loves me either way. He was there today with me and he even said "What is her problem?" He said "Kim you need to find a new doctor who takes their time to listen to you. She really acted like you were a liar or something and she seemed like she has no interest in you". Auughhh ANY help form ANYONE would be a great!
