My Annual Post-OP Appointment and Coming Clean

Jul 31, 2013

It's been seven years since I had my gastric bypass surgery and three years since I had last seen my surgeon.  Yesterday I finally made it to my surgeon's office and had gained 14 lbs from my lowest weight of 135 lbs.  Now that I am more stable in life after being out of work for over two years, I am in a better place and ready to get motivated again.  As I was speaking with my surgeon I felt as though I was in confession telling all my sins.  I came clean admitting that I have fallen off the bandwagon big time.  As the good doctor that my surgeon is, he comfort my fears and told me not to beat myself up and focus on the fact that overall I have done great and that coming to his office was a step in the right direction on getting back on track.  I basically just need to start living a healthier lifestyle and not dieting.  With that being said, I am glad that I have seen my surgeon and I also made an appointment with the nutritionist for a refresher on eating better.  Now that I have gone to my surgeon, I am making a vow to myself to make sure that I go to my annual appointments with my surgeon as well as visiting the nutritionist every now and then to keep me focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
