Back!! After a looong, but eventful, absence!

Jan 24, 2011

Well it has been quite some time since my last appearance on this site. In October 2009 I conceived and found out I was 3 weeks pregnant on November 13th. My son was born on my birthday on July 25, 2010 weighing 7 lbs 2 oz and measuring 21in. I never had to get my band adjusted when I got pregnant because I was able to eat just fine so I only put on about 25lbs. I lost the baby weight almost instantly after I had him which unfortunately flared up my gall bladder and cause me to have to get it removed. My GB was FULL of gallstones that had collected since my lapband surgery (BE CAREFUL!!).

In October 2010 I decided to change surgeons. Dr. Ferrari and his staff didn't seem too concerned about me and every time I went into his office I felt as if I was being herded in and out like a cow. I decided to change over to Dr. Erik Wilson with UT Physicians in the Bellaire, TX (Houston) area. I was supposed to go back in December for a follow up and possible fill but did not have the funds.

In January 2011 (just last week), I had to call in an emergency appointment because I was experiencing some chest pains (consistent, not like with overreating or a too tight band). I had been experiencing the pains for about a month and nothing would rid of them. They got me in with one of the other doctors since Dr. Wilson was in surgery. When they placed me in front of the flouroscope they had me drink some contrast. The doctor said everything look perfect. There was no sign of erosion, slippage, or obstruction. I became hysterical. There HAD to be something WRONG. I explained to them the exact type of pain I had been having so then they decided to order me an EGD (endoscopy) for the following Friday (1/28/2011). They said Dr. Wilson will need to look at the inner lining of my stomach to see if they could find something that the flouroscope wasn't showing. Then they decided to take the fluid out from my band until then to hopefully help ease some pain and also give my stomach a rest.

When they went in to remove the fluid, there was a lot of scar tissue around my port and my port was also turned (possibly from having my son?). Then, when Connie removed the fluid I felt this deep, sharp, sudden pain as if someone had knocked the breath out of me! OUCH! I screamed it hurt SO bad!! Then Connie said that it was completely abnormal for me to experience pain when having the fluid removed and she came to the conclusion that it was most likely that Dr. Ferrari stitched my band in too tight and it was likely that the nerve on my stomach had been under stress for the last, almost, 3 years.

So Friday will be the start of the quest to find out why I am experiencing this horrible chest pain/pressure. Wish me luck! I will keep everyone posted!!

Making progress!!

Oct 28, 2008

So no one said the road to success was going to be an easy one but I sure feel like it gets easier every day. I never thought in a million years I would say this but, I LOVE MY LIFE!!

I love it more with each pound I lose... the funny thing is, before you lose weight you think that the only thing that will change is your body. But not for me! My entire life is changing... DRASTICALLY! I am happy now... I am making stronger relationships, gaining confidence, and looking forward to each coming day. Who knew weight loss was going to be so life changing!

I have a wonderful guy in my life, wonderful friends, and a wonderful outlook on life now. Before I know it, I am going to be going on shopping sprees and loving the idea of shopping waaaay more than before.

I am eating much better now, less vomiting, and better food choices.

My friend Jamie went to Dr. Ferrari and got the gastric bypass done. She has made GREAT success but still battling the self control and depression. I told her that the journey to weight loss is only as depressing as you make it! Just because you can't eat this or that doesn't matter. Eating all that junk is what made me so miserable in the first place! Who needs that!?!?

You can eat what you want, how you want, when you want. But in the end, how you feel about your self is what is most important. So think of how you will feel after eating what you want. Is it worth it?

Probably not.

Thats all for now, folks! Gotta get my workout on!!

Band is tight but I am dealing...

Oct 07, 2008

So I had my 4th fill on September 19th.... about 7 months post-op. I have to admit it is super tight but I am finally losing again! I was gaining weight back again for  while but not its coming off again. This time its coming off about 7 lbs a week!

I have gotten to the point where I know what foods I can tolerate, but I am still having stuff get stuck and "purging" episodes. I know this is bad but I am so tired of being in a plateau. So it has come to my hardly eating until about 3pm. For some reason after 3 in the afternoon, I can pretty much eat with no problem. Sup with that??

AND... I got a new bf. Things are good and moving very smoothly... I can't wait to see where this goes :-)

Until next time all...
