Cathleen, I'm so sorry that you're having such a rough time. I know that my early post-op days were difficult as I felt bad for about the first month or so...but bit by bit, things got better...I felt better and pray that you will, too.

CATHLEEN~~HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER SOON~~May you always have an Angel by your side. Watching out for you in all the things you do. Reminding you to keep believing in brighter days. Finding ways for your wishes and dreams to come true. Giving you hope that is as certain as the sun. Giving you the strength of serenity as your guide. May you always have love and comfort and courage.

Well...so much for a smooth recovery. I went through the 3 weeks on a modified clear liquid diet with no problems (unless you count feeling stark raving mad from not being able to eat something..anything) and started on soft food. Then things didn't go well. I could originally tolerate soup and cottage cheese but by the end of the week even they were coming back up. Got ahold of Dr. McKain (who was covering for Dr Cole, my surgeon, who was on vacation.) Ended up in the hospital for a day 1/2 while they got more liquid into me via IV and did and Endoscopy to check things out. Nope..no stricture..I developed an ulcer right where my new little pouch attaches to the intestine. So...add two more meds to my regimen and back to liquids for at least two weeks. Now where was that cast iron stomach I used to have when I needed it. I'm trying to be upbeat about this..but in reality I'm terribly, terribly disappointed.

I had the surgery on Friday, and was released Monday. I'm not feeling too great yet, but hopefully I will soon. I'm getting my stitches taken out on Thursday. I guess I've officially joined The Losers!
