Two months post-op
Sep 17, 2008
Well, I haven't written on here like I should. But I'm two months out and doing well. I've lost 16 pounds, which doesn't seem like a whole lot, but I guess it's pretty good. The surgery part was easy. My port site is a little sore still, but it seems like I'm always twisting or something that irritates it. But it's something I can live with.
I can eat anything I want and don't have restriction yet, which is frustrating. I guess it's what they call Bandster Hell!!! I've had one fill which was 1.5 ccs. I wish this process would go a little faster. Patience has never been a strong point of mine! lol!
I've only thrown up once, and it was after eating some very dry pork. Even though I chewed and chewed, it was just too dry.
I'll post more later. Hopefully I'll be down by 30 by Christmas. That's my mini goal!

I HAVE A DATE!!!!!!!! July 16th
Jul 09, 2008
After being denied last year for the surgery, I tried to comply with more requirements and resubmitted, and found out a couple weeks ago that I was approved!!!!!
I'm so incredibly excited and can't wait to begin the journey. I think the Lap-Band is going to be a fantastic tool for me.
I'll write more after surgery!

Packet sent in to Insurance!!!
Jul 17, 2007
I have completed my surgery packet, along with my psych eval, and am now just waiting. I am expecting to be denied the first time, that way I won't feel too depressed if I do get denied. If I do, I'll just keep trying! I can't wait to be on the losing side!!! I have also switched to asking for the Lap-Band procedure. I was told I was not a good candidate for the other type. But that's fine. I suppose less invasive is always better!
All about me
Jul 05, 2007
Hello! My name is Celena. I'm 31, have a son who's 14. Well, he's actually my cousin, but we have custody of him. And I have a step-daughter who is 13. My husband Jeff and I have been together for 14 years now. Our dogs, Roscoe (basset/beagle) and Daisy, are my babies. We also have two cats, Susie and Stripey.
I have been battling my weight for about 8 years, since I quit smoking. I gave up one bad habit and picked up another, eating everything! I am hoping to have the Lap-Band because I think that would work best for me. I have filled out my paperwork, have an appt. July 16th for my psych eval, and then will be ready to submit everything for insurance approval.
I really hope to be approved. I am 5'4" and weight 230 pounds. That puts my BMI at 39, so I'm pretty nervous about approval. I have some comorbidities, though. I have PCOS, high cholesterol, asthma, and high blood pressure.
I want this SOOO bad! I know it will be hard, but I'm ready to do whatever it takes.
